Are these the raw colors from your D70? If so, I'll have to remember that. My camera doesn't seem to produce a very pleasing false color spectrum with IR. I'll need to play around with the WB settings. Thanks, and amazing shot.

I usually set the wb to a sunny patch of grass. This shot is a result of a red-blue channel swap in photoshop.

so so so wonderful
naturally white (though it'd seem impossible to me)?
or covered in snow
or editted?

The white is a result of the infrared filter in front of the lens

your shot is fantastic though!!

Set the Whitebalance to a green patch of grass with the filter on, and then switch the red and blue channels (using channel mixer) in Photoshop. That should work

Jupp1 [2005-09-05 11:16:53 +0000 UTC]

This looks very cool, I would like to buy IR-filter, but there are so many different IRs available, that I need some help. What IR-filter you used to take this photo? does it block IR-light or let it through? If it lets it through, in what area 700nm-800nm?
The trees are white, does it mean that they are radiating much heat, and sky looks normal blue, so why is it blue and lawn is almost black?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

escape-is-at-hand In reply to Jupp1 [2005-09-05 17:54:07 +0000 UTC]

I use the Hoya R72 filter, and thats what I've seen used by most people. It lets through light above 720nm. The reason why the trees are white is because I set the whitebalance in my camera to a sunny green patch of grass. Then I switch and red and blue channels in Photoshop to give the image its final look. Hope that helps

This is really nice!

At first i didnt understand if it had snowed or what it was!

Its really amazing, can i ask you how? Ok i understand the IR part (Dunno if you used filter or film)

But the sky how did you make that blue? It looks so real!

Anyways i love it, and ill even it since its such a nice capture

Thanks
I used a Hoya R72 IR filter, and switched the red and blue channels in Photoshop. That created the blue sky.
