Description
Dragon Ball Z Kid Trunks turning Super (1997? line sketched), coloured in 2009.Originally drew in pencil, then finished with a fine liner and a marker.
I decided to try my hand at digital art/manipulation so coloured and rendered this on Paint.NET program.
This is my first time using a computer to edit/add to one of my existing work. Took me a few hours to colour since this is all new to me still
You can see a copy of the original uncoloured work HERE for those that are interested.
Thoughts, tips, advice and comments appreciated.

Thank you very much I took a look at your work as well. I still haven't got the whole colouring via programs down yet >_< I liked your colour rendition of Goku SSJ2. I wish I knew how to colour more efficiently

YOU GOT BIG BOY PANTS NOW!!!! YOU ROCK! Now it is just a matter of fine tuning your skills, and finding a syle. Right now just have fun with it. Always keep a copy of just the line art. Right now just have fun learning the tools. Later after you have learned all the tools you like, you can go back and work on your individual style!
A great free program for coloring programs is GIMP, It has just about everything photoshop has, and you can't beat the price.
I havn't ever used paint.net, and I don't know of any tutorials. I only know one site that has both photoshop and GIMP tutorials, (more ps then GIMP unfortunatly) It is called IDRAWGIRLS.com.
Check it out, and note me if you got any specific questions on coloring your art.

THANKS
Was very pleased the way this turned out. Only concern is how long it took me to actually finish it
I've been keeping a copy of my line sketches, mainly because I've been colouring old line sketches for fun and practice.
I haven't used GIMP as yet but I will try it later this week when I have time =]
Thanks for the info on the site as well. Its such a wealth of information that it'll take me awhile to read it all
Just want to say thanks again for your constant encouragement and support. Really appreciate it

Artists are here to support and encourage each other... I really don't like people who knock other people down to make themself feel better.
I've noticed that people who have a background in tridational art tend to pick up the fundimentals of programs like GIMP and Photoshop much more quickly then other people, but we work ALOT slower. I guess thats why my portfolio is hardly ever updated. We are so used to doing things old school we rarely do the shortcuts that other people do. I am currently trying to learn them and get in the habit of doing them.

I have to agree with that. There are times when I'm colouring via graphical program and I feel like I could do it faster via traditional methods instead of fumbling around trying to do something that is so simple.
I do see plus sides to using graphical tools as well since I can get a picture completely coloured with a cleaner matte finish is a quicker time so it has been a good learning experience in that regard

you can never have too many tools in your back of tricks... look at Felix the Cat.

hehe thanks
I was pretty happy the way this one turned out, mainly because the way the hair came out in the end is exactly how I would want it to look when I colour it in pencils
I'm still struggling to get the hang of the program
