A quality painting I must say, very detailed water refections. I have some paintings from some members of the GRA in my gallery to help raise awareness of the GRA.

Stunning. I love how vibrant the colors are, and how well they are blended into a seamless look.

by the way, I found this page searching for tips on DeviantArt XD

This is definately more to my liking. I like trains, like bridges, and love rivers/lakes/ponds etc. so it's a triple win. The scenery is gorgeous too, and I enjoy that the train doesn't look new, those old steam engines are great.

Steam engines are/were a speciality of mine. I'm a member of the guild of railway artists here, and have painted more trains than I can remember. Then again, I'm 57 so I can't remember that much! Thanks a lot for your feedback.

That's pretty awesome, there used to be a place near here, called the Toy Train Village that I always went to when I was younger, it got me very interested in trains and steam engines, that and Thomas the Tank Engine haha. And 57 isn't that bad, you've hopefully got a long road ahead of you old man

Did you get the animated Thomas the Tank engine series in the U.S. The one narrated by Ringo Starr? My sons used to watch it and I couldn't believe how you could go from drummer in the world's biggest band to 'hello Thomas, said Gordon' etc. etc.

Yep haha that's the one we got. With Sir Toppum Hat lmao. I never realized Ringo Starr narrated though, was too young to notice, but now that I think back it's so obvious.

That's a very impressive drawing. Say, is that acrylics or oil?

Hello there - sorry it has taken a long time to reply. This is an acrylic painting. The only reason I don't use oil is just because I don't like the smell it gives off!

I love the landscape around the train, the colours on the hills remind me of the highlands arround here.
Lovely painting

amount of details here is SHOCKING I love the contrast, and composition too.

especially the bush on the left side looks so realistic its scary.

espiritoart In reply to Patual [2009-02-08 21:40:35 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much! The subject is something I am interested in, but the detail is a little over the top - even for me. The problem being that it won't be accepted into the Guild of Railway artists exhibitions if it has the wrong number of rivets or the wrong kind of piston housing!

Patual In reply to espiritoart [2009-02-09 07:01:07 +0000 UTC]

whaaat? They think about something like that oO Thats very strict, I mean, if its about art it doesn't have to be exact.

espiritoart In reply to Patual [2009-02-23 18:46:25 +0000 UTC]

(sorry this a very late reply!) It shouldn't matter no, but it matters to some people high up the organisation, and to a lot of enthusiasts - the people who buy my paintings. Its not too bad once you get used to it.
