Description Stargate Replicator Queen Bug

Here some Images of my Replicator Bugs from CD's.
Why CD's? It's a cheap and abundantly available material. Just ask your friends, burned CD's not to throw away.

Stargate fans are surely familiar with the little bug-like critters. In the show, the Replicators are primarily the enemies of the Asgard race, however, they act like a plague against all life thus, in the series, Earth must also contend with them on several occasions.

At one point I thought I could recreate a small bug. First I cut out the pieces with scissors, but that was too exhausting. Later I built a punching device that facilitated the whole a lot more.

You can see one of my first Repli-Bugs in the last Image next to the Pumpgun.

After the construction of some of the small replicators I ventured to a queen, as she was the first to see in the episode "Nemesis" Part 2.

I use 4 CD Parts to build one of the replicator blocks. The Queen consists of about 185 blocks. All in all, I have consumed about 150 CD's or DVD's.
Fortunately, I will of my friends always stocked with plenty of burn, broken or promotional CD's.

Feel free to comment.

BTW: Their names are Stan & Stella.

I've long thought to recreate the human replicator from the dvd film. But I have not dared to venture. Maybe in the future.

Euderion In reply to Taena-Doman [2013-04-18 20:35:34 +0000 UTC]

Was den Repli-Code angeht. *g*

That is awesome! You could probably use thin acrylic or styrene as well. Wish you sold the die and instructions, though.

Euderion In reply to JasonWolfe [2013-02-02 11:38:42 +0000 UTC]

I tryed acryl, but it breaks to fast. Styrene is better, but is hard to find thin styrene that are working with my punching device.

I use superglue for this. Its a cheap universal adhesive which are available in 1 Euro shops. The glue is superstrong in less than ten seconds. Be careful with youre hands...
