ah something worthy from dd... wow that is just so wow... except it's a bit dark.. but i love it... i wonder how it'll look like with color..

eurai In reply to chronicles-of-666 [2006-04-23 01:27:59 +0000 UTC]

Too dark? I thought so...I think that I kinda went overboard on its contrast when I noticed that its color equivalent looked a bit flat.

Thanks for the comment.

wait did you edit it? it looked different on internet explorer.. oh really? maybe what she was wearing didnt contrast with the blue sky.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

eurai In reply to chronicles-of-666 [2006-04-23 20:02:46 +0000 UTC]

Naw -- I didn't edit it.

It was that the sky in itself wasn't very dark when the shot was colorized. I used Photoshop's "channel mixer" to desaturate it through a red filter (thereby making the sky almost black in some places, as it was beforehand a deep blue). That increased its contrast a whole hell of a lot.

eurai In reply to weasel35 [2006-04-23 01:29:19 +0000 UTC]

Only insofar as public reaction mandates I be proud. I honestly didn't think this that spectacular a shot and was sort of riding on its title and concept more so than its actual appearance.

Thanks!

weasel35 In reply to eurai [2006-04-23 11:12:44 +0000 UTC]

did you take it with an SLR camera? I would like to know how you got the person on the swing focused and the sky blured. Thats whats so nice about it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

eurai In reply to weasel35 [2006-04-23 20:07:50 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it was taken with a dSLR. The sky was actually somewhat sharp in the original shot but appears somewhat blurry given its wispy nature and that it was moving quickly. I used a small aperture (9.0), so the sky was mostly in-focus. Because this was shot with a wide-angle lens, though (16-35mm equivalent), even a large aperture wouldn't have affected the image's focus very much.

I love how this gives a feeling of flying to freedom in its own way~
I'm laying on a couch right now, but I feeling like I've just finished running in circles -- dizzy~!! xD
It's nice how it's her back as well, so many people rely so much on facial expression~

Thanks for sharing this dizziness evoking piece~

Hey -- you nailed the particular reason I submitted this shot! I liked that her expression is entirely unknown, that the viewer's imagination may carry him- or herself into the shot in place of its subject.

Thanks.

Right, it's open to interpretation; and that's what helps make this shot so intense~
No problem! And I'm glad to have happened upon your intention!

Seriously...how to you get the random swinging and arrangement of sky-patterns to make such a perfect composition??

I feel dizzy just looking at it!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

eurai In reply to Redpyre [2006-04-23 01:35:28 +0000 UTC]

Luck, mostly. I thought that the clouds would make for an interesting backdrop but didn't meticulously arrange myself such that the subject overlaid them.

Photography seems to be one of my more accidental hobbies.
