Hi, sorry to ask questions that you may have been asked like a milloin times.

The Roma Plastlina, is it the non-sulfer, what hardness do you like to work with?

What is the water based clay your using to make the key or what ever ya call it?

I haven't really sculpted since highschool adn am starting to get back into it. I purchased some Chavant NSP clay, but it's not the easiest stuff to work with since you have to keep it warm to work with it. I'm trying to figure out what would be best for me to work with for making masks and stuff like this. I would appreciate any tips you have for me.

Here are the things I'm currently working on:

I'm about to embark on a similar mold making project, but as i live in the UK i can't get hold of ultracal 30. I've been suggested to use 'Crystacal R' as it is supposed to have similar properties. but i'm wondering if you know if this is true, or have any other suggestions for a cement to use that i can get hold of?

Hi I've got the same problem, it's hard to get some of these materials in the UK. I'm also in the middle of my first mask making endeavour and I'm looking at this material as it looks like it might do the job [link] I've ordered from these guys before and I found them to be good and reliable.

So you spray your sculpture with clear coat? That is interesting to me. I'm assuming that means even after you make a cast the clay itself cannot be re-used for a different sculpture. correct?

I've also heard you can use sillicone for the with plaster bandage on the outside to provide support.

But it will probably be the worst attempt at anything evarr.

Hah. All of your stuff is seriously amazing. I am in awe of you.

EvanCampbell In reply to supertotallyfresh [2010-01-31 17:19:39 +0000 UTC]

The best way to start this kind of process is on a small scale. Try little sculptures at first so you can get used to the materials and how they work. I have made so many mistakes with this stuff along the way.

supertotallyfresh In reply to EvanCampbell [2010-01-31 20:03:41 +0000 UTC]

thats a good idea lol, i probably would have done something huge and ended up with a pile of mush. If I do anything half decent I'll post it.
