Big mabye was blazes dad but eggman nega erased his memory completely and send him to mobius making him leave blaze, her daughter all alone and big in a planet (well dimension) he doesnt know thus befriending froggy
And why does big like to fish?
Well back then big used to take blaze to go fishing and tries to teach her how but failed due to how blaze has a fear of water
