Ghosts of the Future, issue 14 page 24.There's also a racecar bed in that room, you just can't see it.
And now, Okida will give you Scourge's backstory in rhyme (Vennie, you asked for it!):
Well young one, sit yourself down and I'll tell you a tale -
of a green hedgehog comprised of fail.
He conquered his world and took himself a crown,
but found it as useful as a novelty ball gown.
He forced his friends to become more then they were,
perhaps one of them might be a decent chauffeur.
Anarchy beryl increased his might but after failing,
at the hands of the zone cops, he had a great plight.
Rescued by his girlfriend and some other saps,
he returned to mobius but then was forced to take a nap.
A genesis wave ended his hold,
so in 'this' story now he does make so bold.

Those are either never-ending magic candles or Scourge lit them when he came into the room....which doesn't exactly fit his current attitude. Cute how he tied a pink bow on that pillar. And is that a can of Chaos Cola over there? Wait, no.... Beryl Beer seems more likely in this universe.
Interesting how Vennie is sitting on a ratty old armchair back there. Looks like one I had years ago that came back from the dead. I hope it's not too special to Scourge, otherwise he's going to suddenly realize she's on it and get ticked off at her. Again.
As for his line in panel 4, it's hard to say exactly what he might be referring to when he says he'd put an end to "this". Maybe he means his existence as a whole (weird how some people crave nothingness).

I like the idea of Baryl Beer.
I don't think he's refering to putting an end to his existence; I think he means an end to, what appears to be to me, his enslavement (I can't think of a better word at the moment) by this mysterious monster. He has to do whatever this thing says or face harm at its hands. If I was him and had the power to "beat him"and "teach him a lesson", that would mean he could never boss me around again, thus "putting an end" to my enslavement of sorts.

LOL! I was going to have a list of three or four possibilities (so it's not like I'm devoted to my original thought) but I heard my husband coming down the stairs and panicked, pressing submit without adding anything else. He's annoyed by all things Sonic-related.

I think maybe it has something to do with what Scourge really wants.
--Does he want to be at the beck and call of a faceless boss? Doubtful.
--Does he want to be ghost-king of a desolate world/city full of tattered banners? Probably not.
--Is he still obsessed with proving he's better than Sonic? Um... duh.
--Does he want to stop being a ghost? Could be.
Depending on his real goal, I think he might be referring to something we simply don't know about him just yet. Hopefully once he starts his monologue we'll get more insight into his character.

Sure! The way I'm handling the effects of the Genesis Waves is that the multiverse wasn't destroyed, just separated from the Prime Zone and destabilized. Mobius and its closest sister universes (like Sol) is kinda off in their own little protective bubble while the rest of the multiverse has been left adrift. The No-Zone still exists, but it was probably hit REALLY hard by all the Genesis Portal nonsense. I doubt the zone cops' organization survived (let alone their zone even still being habitable in the long run), but perhaps Zonic left to travel the multiverse as a wandering lawman.
We don't have any plans on including the Cops in the plot of GOTF, although I did once write a remake of the first two issues where the Zone Cops where the main antagonists instead of Nicole for fun. It's one of my Patreon subscriber bonuses!

That makes so much sense! Just as much sense as the persisting theories that the multiverse was never truly destroyed - it was only destroyed in a number of possibilities. In the world of fiction, the multiverse is by definition a pool of infinite possibilities and outcomes, countless nexuses of realities and counterparts, boundless timelines and unfathomable beginnings and endings: in short every eventuality exist. As such, it makes perfect sense that there is a instance within a cluster of realities where the multiverse got separated from the Prime Zone and its sister zones with the Super Genesis Wave.
With such a concept, a writer like you can get away with everything Evan.

My universe has been recycled. Most of it's history has been told differently, and there are just a few (but noticeable) continuity errors that have taken place.

Also, I just LOVE the colors of this page! It mixes so nicely with the blue of his ghost and the green of his "physical" body.

I have a prediction that his back story, especially the part after he's rescued, will not be the whole truth and he'll word it in a way that either makes him look like the victim, the most competent member of the team, or both.
I also predict the shrine is dedicated to Fiona. Or possibly his parents.

I haven't been able to help but have a soft spot/empathy for Scourge in the last couple chapters, even before the encounter with the "smoke machine bastard"...and I feel it even more after seeing that shadowed picture frame with candles and tattered, yellow bow above the picture frame >-<,

Well, the Super Genesis Wave did get rid of Scourge in the comics. So I'm assuming that's what was meant.

Well technically a law suite did because the genesis wave arc happened because so many characters had to be taken out of the comics when a important guy sued archie comics and left with all his OC's which included Scourge, Fiona and a tons of other people. But yes the genesis wave did essentially make Scourge go away. But I assume something kept him from just going back to in time like the rest, maybe this black mist(whoever it actually is) stopped him from going back and made him this. Guess we'll find out next week.

I know what actually caused it. I just don't like to give attention to him in any way.
I suppose we'll find out. I'd say my theories but they're not good at all since I only started reading around the end of issue 12. And haven't gone back to read the rest yet.
