This isn't going back to no pants; this scene where he's wearing the coat happened before he got pants. It's safe to assume he got in the habit of pants-having somewhere between the flashback segments and when we see him in the Gold Ring Chinese Restaurant  in issue 1... and there's no great mystery to it. He probably liked having more pockets.

This page is still in the past, but after this we're going back to the present yeah. The rest of the issue is all about the character problems and dynamics left hanging at the end of issue 15, but it's still a Dia de los Muertos-themed story.

I feel sad because Shadow didn’t know about the Chaotix and Rouge until 5 years later. The colors changing to reflect Shadow’s mood though is beautifully done.

Well,they've never been trough anything like this in any actual game so it's hard to actually tell, but when shadow first lost everything amy helped him, so i'm sure sonic could also do that.

Yes, Sonic could help in a way.
The problem I have here is that Shadow openly admits he's been selfish... when truly, he's not.
I understand that killing all his "friends" was hurtful, but I don't quite see Shadow calling himself a murderer.

Honestly, to make them act the correct, accurate way is rather easy. Even though it never happened in the games.
All you have to do is study how they take stress, and other emotions. It seems that Shadow doesn't take much notice to stressful moments,
and mostly stays calm without showing his emotions unless the person he's talking to is very close. And in this case, I don't think him and
Sonic are very close as friends. I think Shadow would stay quiet about his feelings and let Sonic go do whatever. Like in the begining of the comic issue.

And after Sonic told him to cheer up, I believe Shadow's reaction would've been more like "Move his head down slightly and say "Fine" instead of
"Apologize for being selfish and calling himself a murderer." :/

Anyway, that's what I believe should've happened in this scenario for these particular characters.
I think Evan Stanley has changed her character depictions too much, and has the weight of her old comics,
which she admitted to be amature, pulling her depictions down.

over the course of two hundred years, bound together as they are, sonic and shadow have to reach an accommodation about what has happened and the long reaching consequences of it. And never underestimate the long term damaging effects of unnecessary guilt upon a psyche. It can be utterly devastating to your very sense of being.
