Okida : You know... I suppose I should be making some observations about overprotective parents, but all I can think is that you could remove all the dialogue and then have Silver's mom sing in this pose the finale from the musical of a tale of two cities. "It is a far, far better thing that I do!"

Everyone is talking about how this is a trope and yes it is, but frankly I think these emotions are very valid on the mom's part. The reason this is a trope is because in reality, most loving parents would indeed feel this way to one extent or another. This isn't exactly your average teens-getting-into-trouble deal.

Ah yes, the obligatory "parents have a panic attack over the safety of their kids and whether or not they're really capable or ready to do the same dangerous stuff that they do on a regular basis, only to ultimately learn otherwise sometime further down the line after a few trying and challenging events that forces them to put some trust in them and they learn that, no, these kids are more capable than they give them credit for and can handle these dangers after all and begrudgingly start to relent to that" troupe.

While she does have a valid point I'd doubt that they'll be safe even if they stay put. Robotnik knows their location and as he said before he gave them a "running start". So it's only a matter of time before his robots attack their base and they will have to fight in order to protect the emeralds they have. She'll have to realize that they'll be in danger no matter where they are.
