Description
Experimentation with abstract motifs. Heavily inspired by Joan Miro; fascinated by his colour theories and the minimalistic surreal style of his later works (e.g. Constellations) but was still very much interested in the liveliness of his earlier figurative paintings (Harlequin's Carnival). In the end, developed own theory out of this; maintained use of primary colours and simplistic lines but kept figurative approach.Motif was repeated several times on different media: Oil pastel on paper, acrylic on card, gouache on canvas... this particular one is gouache on card. Gouache paint was particularly useful to the image due to its heavily pigmented and therefore "solid" effect; able to achieve solid blocks of colour with brush strokes barely visible. Very fun. Will likely continue in future.
The culmination of several weeks of research and experimentation, although the painting itself took approximately 15 minutes. Type what you see in the image in the comments; am fascinated by differing takes and approaches to work. Additionally, as one may have noticed, have begun typing in fragmented sentences increasingly often. Does not use personal pronouns anymore. Hope it is not off-putting.
Enjoy.

Well, there's no nose, it's just an eye, with hair falling over it. But yeah, that's the base image. Thank you very much, darl'.
