Description Blake. Pretty hard-ass.

Played around with watercolour in a monochromatic setting. Lots of fun. White paint is hard to control. Wet on wet can get some great bleeding textures going.

Wanted to create a very film noir look in both the character and the stylistic choices.

Maybe 20 minutes? Don't remember, wasn't counting.

Noir or hard-ass?

Bad.

I don't know what noir is.

Very cool. You used the white paint on the cheek mostly?

Yeah, that's the spot. It's hard to use because it's so light that if you water it down it just becomes milky and doesn't do anything but really hard to spread if it's too concentrated.

I like the look of it. It gives the tints of the other colour a particular texture and depth.

Really? I got really annoyed at how it turned out, I feel like the texture and shine conflicts with the rest.

It does a little in terms of how the darker-coloured ink interacts with it as opposed to with the white paper, but if you'd used it more extensively, like on the shine on the hair and the light part of the sweatshirt, even that wouldn't be a problem.

I really like the blotchy effect~ Watercolor is hard for me. >_>

Watercolour's pretty difficult, yeah. It's the first paint I've ever worked with and my friend remarked that I still used it like pencil or oil pastel. Need to get used to layering more and whatnot.

Yeah, it's the layering that gets me. D: Sometimes I overwork it so much that it looks bad, and I can't do anything to make it better/change it. I guess that's why I'm more of a digital artist. >_>

Yeah, I'm working at it, it's hard to get the hang of. Right now I'm still experimenting a lot with the properties, and you can check out my page for some of that. Mostly I upload on Facebook these days so if you want to feel free to add me. Eh, digital's useful but for some reason I just don't feel like it's as... sincere as traditional, I guess. I suppose it's just the fact that it doesn't really exist, it's just ephemeral and utterly ethereal, that gets to me. I still like working in traditional media. Plus you don't have to worry about pixels, ever.

Yeah, but you're doing pretty well so far. ;D

I'll scavenge around for your Facebook, it'll be interesting to see the other stuff you post! And I see what you mean about digital vs traditional, maybe one day I'll improve on my traditional skills~
