Description
Look, if Regular Tom Preston isn't going to do anything with his characters, then I will....
Anyways, I did this comic in this way to test out all the new little inking techniques I've learned over the past month or so and see it applied to my standard comicmaking style. I think it came out pretty well! Still trying to wrap my head around line width and depth-and-light... but it's still miles ahead of my original "single thin inline, single thick outline" style I used before.

So, did Atea did Talus syphilis? She looks awfully guilty in the second to last panel...and given she's part rat it wouldn't be surprising if she were carrying a few diseases.
Also, I'll bet Doctor Pirate there is a GREAT Proctologist.

Did Atea give Talus syphilis? Sure, why not?
(Seriously though, I didnt intend on that... Atea was just supposed to be in disgust, but a few people made the connection, so... :3 )
As for Doctor Pirate... I would rather he not poke around in there. Whether prodded with a rusty hook or leaving slivers behind... I doubt it will be an enjoyable experience

Ewww, Atea melted Talus' banana!
Maybe in order to make her look more disgusted, you could have had her looking down at Talus while holding her hands up at if to keep him away from her?
Speaking of rusty hooks, no wonder Uncle Peggy can't ever get any action. : (

Haha, thanks!
When I read the original "Alex ze Pirate" comics, Talus having syphilis was the only thing I could think of to rationalize why he's so "LOL RANDUMB", with his pineapples and nails and stuff.

Honestly, theirs a ton of things that could make you act random and crazy that you can get from being on a boat for weeks and months on end. Β All of them horrible.

Hello again, Evil Tom.
The varied line weight is a lot more pleasing and a lot less jarring to look at. Good luck in continuing to improve.
Also I like that you have Alex looking more similar to her old design and took away all the overly bright colours that Regular Tom uses. Much easier on the eyes.

Thanks! I could use all the luck I can get... and, as it turns out, luck favors the prepared.
The original design of Alex seemed more appropriate to use, because the whole joke was that she was regularly mistaken for a guy... but her new design very clearly ruins that premise.

Congrats, this is the first time anything AzP-related has ever been amusing.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Like I said above; if Regular Tom isn't gonna do anything with his characters, then I will. Which includes actually making them amusing.

I like this one, only thing missing is the smoke trail, speed lines, or and extended "WOOOOOOOOOSH" that goes from Tails to the right side of the panel to show he ran by them, then maybe have his head titled look back at Alex and Atea saying " Out of my way, my Banna is melting."
Otherwise I like the inking, though I'm a little concern you might get too obsessed with it. Be careful you don't blow a brain fuse.
Also love the Pirate Doctor with the cross on his uniform. Just goes to show how stupidly simple it is to make wacky characters for whats suppose to be a wacky comic.

Oh, also, I updated the comic to include some speed lines and "Outta my way!". Thanks for the suggestions!

RE: Speedlines -- Yeah, I didn't realize I left them out until it was posted. Maybe I'll go back and add them in. And I agree with the "Outta my way!"; I'll add that too. Definitely needs it.
RE: Inking -- Well, I'm still getting a feeling for things. In fact, I realized that the brush I'm using is too thick for my needs, so I bought a Speedball-plus-sketching-nibs and I'm gonna test with that. It may give me the kind of control I'm looking for!
RE: Pirate Doctor -- And I just added that in as an afterthought

Sometimes the afterthoughts are the best bits-- wouldn't it be funny if he had a hooked hand and his medical instruments are all customized for it? I think so.
That's why I like AzP so much, Dobson puts barely any effort in it that when I mess around with it I find all sorts of things he could fill it up with.

Because these "Alex is a Pirate" comics are relatively easier to crank out, I may do more... and in doing them, explore all those things Dobson could've done to fill it up.
