Description
Despite popular belief, not all Sphinxes are into riddles...-------------------------------------------------------------
A goofy idea I thought of and just had to draw. I also wanted an excuse to draw my sphinxes again and do something with Merrill's new look (though I do have a more official piece for that). Though the Sphinxes may be creatures of high intelligence and incredible power, they are also quite susceptible to boredom and dumb hobbies.
Also, it turns out tiddlywinks is way more complicated than I originally thought. When drawing this, I figured I would look to see how the game is played to get the look right, and it apparently isn't all about getting all your pieces in a cup. Honestly, just reading through the rules and ways to win kind of broke the English language for me, as it devolves into some bizarre gibberish. So I said "forget it" and just did the dumb version. My apologies, but I am not about to lose my mind over how one squidges the squop.

the sphinxes are strange looking, they don't seem to be related to any known lifeform type, the sphinxes have a semi-vertebrate look but they seem to have evolved from an unknown class.

You are right, as they don't quite fit with lifeforms on this plane. This is because Sphinxes are creatures from another realm, one that exists close by the known world. They do have some similarities with Aelf, as they too are beings from beyond. It is unknown what the relations are between the two species, if their homes are on the same plane, but it is well known that they don't get along with each other.

Is it strange to say that the larger creature looks like some kind of demented superhero?

Perhaps a little! What part of it gives that impression? I could maybe see with the colors or the wings.

I think it's the placement of the mouth reminding me somehow of Superman's logo, the wings folding back like a cape...eh. Maybe it's just me. XD

Okay, I can kinda see what you mean now. It is like someone hit a superhero with a mutation ray!

There's a complex version of Tiddlywinks?? Ah, people can make anything complicated...
I like this idea for a sphinx quite a lot! Even the wise need recreation!

I think it is more that we dumbed down original Tiddlywinks for kids and whatnot. But apparently one can pin another players winks with their own, which prevents them from moving that piece until you get off them. This is called "squoping" and it seems to be the most important tactic in the game, even more so than getting all your winks in the pot. The sheer strategy and things you can do with squoping is unreal, to the point where I just gave up trying to interpret it. But yeah, some folk take their Tiddlywinks quite seriously.
Thanks! I wanted to give Sphinxes a bit more to their character, as big know-it-alls seemed kind of boring. So I figured omnipotent brainaics would quickly get bored with their own realm and start finding new forms of entertainment.

Oh, wow. Just getting my winks to go in the direction I intend is difficult enough!

I thought that was the challenge as well, but it seems we are just terrible at it!
