Description She was a sweet old lady, who simply wanted to help those in need. Life had been kind to her, but she knew others were not so lucky. She made her home into a sanctuary for others, and always kept her doors open for the lost. She certainly didn't have much, but such simple things like a sturdy roof, a hot meal and a warm smile meant the world to others. This refuge she created was known throughout the land, and apparently in places beyond. One night she was visited by a presence in her mind, one that promised much to her. The chance to spread her kindness farther, to help better the world and protect those in need. Believing in this wonderful dream, she agreed and her fate was sealed. In the following days, she doubled her efforts and welcomed more into her happy home. As time passed, more and more folk crowded her sanctuary, as she invited all she could find. Despite the growing masses, she found that she could not say no to a person in need, no matter who they were or what they brought with them. Her refusal to deny others brought a poison into her home, as cruel and hateful folk began to arrive. Those who once found sanctuary within her walls soon found their enemies pouring through the doors. Those with bitter hearts and wicked intentions took residence in her refuge, and they were quick to turn on the others who hid there. Even as violence broke out and hate grew, she refused to turn anyone away. All deserved her love and care, no matter what. In time, the lost and downtrodden fled her home, leaving behind a nest of vileness and cruelty. She wept for those she failed, but even then, she could not remove the sickness that had infected her refuge. For the Parasites of Kindness had already infested her heart and soul, tainting the love she sought to spread.

The infested creature that slithers throughout the land is all that is left of her. Though the infection has warped her body and mind, the resulting beast is a harmless one. She does not wish to hurt anyone or cause misery, she simply wants to spread love and kindness to all she meets. Unfortunately, the sickness has brought others who do not wish the same. Every inch of her is coated in wretched parasites, horrid creatures that hunger for blood and flesh. They burst from every orifice and slither through every fold, all seeking food from her and any who cross her path. Even with their razor jaws and burrowing mouths, she does not seem to mind their presence. In fact, she looks upon them fondly as her children, even has they feast on her body. Never would she harm a single one of them, just as she would never harm any other soul. As she travels, she seeks out those in need and tries to give them comfort. Sadly, she is oblivious to the plague that she carries and what horror it can bring upon victims. Those who encounter her can expect a welcoming hug and other kind gestures, all of which can spread the infection. The writhing parasites will be eager for a meal, and the mere sight of tasty flesh will whip them into a frenzy. The worms and centipedes will stretch forth to try and snare the victim, while the others ready their sharpened mouths and claws. The second she or another grabs hold, they will surge forth and engulf the trapped prey. They will bite and tear, while others burrow beneath the flesh. Within seconds, eggs will be laid within the poor soul and they shall now carry the infection. Such encounters are rarely lethal, as she leaves her victims battered and bloodied. She does not see any issue with this, even as her victims thrash and scream. She merely believes that they are overreacting to the situation, and that they are not used to such kindness and love. However, what results from these encounters is not so lovely. The survivor will be laden with their own eggs and parasites, which will constantly feed on their body and fluids. Though the victim will feel every bite and nibble, they will not be able to fight back. The sickness that is spread to them makes them unable to harm their parasites, as their body and mind violently refuse such actions. As time passes, they will become almost oblivious to their presence, even as their flesh is savaged. Ignorance will soon turn to joy, as the victim starts to believe that these monstrosities are gifts, and that such kindness must be spread. They will begin to seek out others, so that they may share this joy. No matter how the others may scream and fight, they will believe they are doing the right thing. Even as their own parasites suck them dry and gnaw them down to the bone, they shall seek to bless others with their children. Any town or village that is visited by her will be left with a blissful horde of grinning drones, all wishing to spread their vile love.

No matter how many suffer from her infestation, or how many villages perish from her presence, she will continue to travel with a smile on her face and a song in her heart. She is always happy and warm despite her condition, never showing a moment of sadness or guilt. Some wonder if this obliviousness is caused by the sickness or her own twisted mind. This plague has robbed her of many other things, why not also her guilt? Or perhaps she still clings to this ignorant life of ceaseless kindness and joy because it is all she has left...

---------------------------------

Out of all the Virtues, Kindness was the hardest one to figure out. Thankfully, some ideas from my sister helped me figure out the direction to take it.

Cool concept

Is the parasite real or just a metaphor?

Thank you so much!

Which parasite are you referring to? I am not quite sure, as there are a bunch in this piece!

Ah I see! Though she is infested with a whole nest of parasites, there is actually no single Parasite of Kindness. Oddly enough, it is just the name of the infection that has claimed her, and it is what spawns the multitude of critters from her flesh.

Now...there is but one that remains...any hints on Chastity? If I may ask? (I think that’s the last one)

Thank you so much! Glad to hear you like it! It was tough to figure out, but once we found a way for kindness to be corrupted it all came together nicely!

Chastity is indeed the last one of the Virtues. Not sure if this is really a hint, but I would say that this being is way more savage than one may expect for such a virtue.
