I've read two of the republic commando novels (unfortunately Delta-Squad appears just in the second) and I have to say: I don't like, how the author butchers Delta-Squad. He lets them act like ignorant and arrogant morons... I mean WTF?
Delta-Squad got their own Game!

The first time when they appear in the book, they are very arrogant, but in the other books after that they are very cool and far less arrogant, because you see their point of view.

Considering that Boss broke the arm of his trainer, Walon Vau (during training in Kamino), and Atin (towards the end of the Republic Commando novel "Triple Zero") nearly killing Vau if not for Bardin Jusik arriving and stopping both Vau and Atin.

Well Traviss says that her plan for the book Imperial commando 2 (she will never write it) was to make Niner escape and Darman too, but she cannot tell for Delta, because they are LucasArts' property if they want to make a new game...

And I kinda figured that about Delta. I always thought that she was very careful with what she had Delta do in the books. I don't think I ever heard (or read) them talking about deserting.
But a new game in the style of the previous one would be great.

The thing that was cancelled was not the sequel of the game but the sequel of the book (Imperial commando 2) because Karen Traviss had her stories contradicted by the new 3D serie and couldn't continue to write Republic commando books anymore. Imperial commando 2 was announced then cancelled. But it's a book ^^
