Description
This is my final film for my last year in University, Yara-Ma-Yha-Who.A young boy encounters the local boogeyman.
Worked on it with the help of a second year (she provided the textures I used for the background), and the music is done by music student, Greg Harradine. Backgrounds are Photoshop, animation is Flash, and comping is After Effects.
The story is based on the Aborigine legend of the Yara-Ma-Yha-Who, a small red creature that eats misbehaving children.

on the most part i think it is rather mundane. however when the boy first meets the monkey (yara) it picked up. i didn't expect it though and was creepy. i loved the expression of the boy as he was being eaten, it was really good.
the whispering woman at the end was also a nice touch but i think the effect was ruined the longer she spoke. it gave the impression of a poem being recited. i think it would have been best to keep it to one or two lines at most.
i am intrigued by the red arm and the red mark the yara left.
did i get it right? did the kid turn into a yara himself? so he wasn't eaten? only munched on a bit?

Ha ha, now there's a legend I didn't expect anyone to use! I always thought Yara-Ma-Yha-Who's were interesting monsters.
Traditionally they had to eat you several times, but I thought this was well-executed.

Utterly brilliant. Colorful and evocative, and I can't say I don't love the subject matter. Yara-ma-yha-who is among my favorite of all mythological creatures, which is really saying something, as mythology has always been a very important part of my life. Thumbs up!
