Description
Annular solar eclipse of May 20, 2012, viewed from southern Idaho, viewed at peak eclipse from this location, at 7:26PM.This was my first solar eclipse, and it's the most incredible thing I've ever seen in my lifetime. To see the daylight dimmed, the familiar shape of our sun obscured, and the juxtaposition of our two most familiar objects in the sky....it's a sight that everyone must see in their lifetime. Nothing compares to it, except for, of course, a total solar eclipse, which will occur, in this same area, in 2017. I can't wait. Because only that could beat this.
Clouds partially obscured the view here, but in a way they were welcome, as they allowed photography without a filter.
