Description
He is one of the most influential and wealthy leaders of Infinity, a mega corporation that has a presence on almost every inhabited solar system. Infinity is a manufacturer of industrial goods, parts for starships, medical technology, and much more. It also researches and creates new technology in those fields, where it is a leading member in weapons development (though this is overseen directly by the government). One of the reasons it is such a prominent company is because it created the Gateway Transit System, which allows for instant travel between certain locations.Lucius is the Executive Head for Infinity's Research and Development department; he works with the Research Head of R&D, and the two essentially share leadership of the entire division. The Research Head (a.k.a. Head Researcher, or Chief of Research) is in charge of the actual research itself as well as determining what projects get priority (or get scrapped altogether), picking which staff members are assigned to which projects, etc. The Executive Head approves the budgets, protects the company by making sure that the Research Head is keeping their interests in mind, and enables the Research Head to do his job by defending his goals and methods to company instead of making the Research Head spend all his time at board meetings when he is supposed to be in the lab.
This requires that the Executive Head not only be skilled in corporate politics and finances, but how to deal with idealistic, head-in-the-clouds, or mad scientists, AND understanding all the research itself. Furthermore, it requires a certain degree of trust between the two Heads. When it works, it means that the researchers have an ally who can cut through all the red tape that would otherwise hinder them, and the corporation has someone they can trust to make sure their massive - yet finite - budget isn't being wasted to satisfy the ego of a researcher more concerned with proving how smart he is than doing something that will earn the company money.
Lucius is one of the youngest R&D Executive Heads yet he has performed spectacularly, demonstrating an understanding of both science and politics, and the ability to motivate people as needed. He has a reputation for being ruthless when necessary, but smart enough to know that fear and cruelty are not the only, or even the best, motivators for producing results. He is polite and charming most of the time; he demands that he be shown the respect owed to his position, of course, and does not suffer fools gladly.
One of his strengths is spotting talent and recruitment. He recognized Trace's potential and purchased her labor rights (i.e. bought her as an indentured worker), though it would be more accurate to say that she is working for Infinity than she is working for him, and the two relate primarily as supervisor and subordinate.
Lucius has a working relationship with Gideon built upon mutual respect for each other's abilities, but it would be a stretch to call them friends. He is aware that Gideon's ultimate loyalty is, despite Lucius' best efforts, to CorpSec and the Terran Protectorate rather than Infinity, and thus has to keep Gideon away from certain matters that he doesn't want the government to find out.
I don't know how obvious it is, but Lucius is looking out his office window at the city outside. I spent nearly 2 weeks on this, trying to get a clear reflection on the window and still show the city outside. Unfortunately the city blocks models stretch the limit of my computer's abilities, so I had to keep the image resolution lower than I wanted. Either that or spend an entire day letting a render run that might cause my computer to crash in the process.

Random Fact: I spent over 30 minutes trying to decide on Lucius' last name before I just settled for what was originally going to be Gideon's last name. I changed my mind because Gideon's first name was originally Jack, and he was either a Captain or a Lieutenant in the army, and I realized it'd be a source of endless headaches if I had a character named Captain Jack Sparrow, even if I had arrived at that name for reasons completely unrelated to the movie(s).

That's an outstanding render. It's a very nice scene to introduce a character. I really like the reflection. You get a good view of the office and the city. It also provides a nice second perspective on the character. Speaking of which, nice choice of angle and perspective on the scene.
