Description
Galactic Dreams - Lake Henshaw, CA 2014Man im so happy this panorama turned out! Woohoo its been so long since i photographed the Milky Way at least a year since Death Valley. This was shot after our day trip to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park . Since we were there all day at the heat was getting to us we decided to head back home but on the way stop and take pictures. As we got into the Lake Henshaw area the temperature was nice and cool which really woke us up and made it great for shooting. Running out of options to shoot it was about 12:30 AM and i found a turn off. From there we were looking for the Milky Way and there it was in clear sight nothing was in its way. It was so beautiful to just stare for hours! I never saw so many shooting stars in my life! Even though we werent in the back country, it definitely felt like we were. Since it was so late at night there was hardly any traffic making it a perfect night just to sit back and enjoy this natural beauty. This is 64 images in total and took about an 1 hour/ 20 mins to capture all the images. I definitely need to learn to space my images more but i've always had so much bad luck stitching photos i never want to risk it lol. But after deleting some images and stitching it I definitely know this certain shot could of been around 20-25. But practice makes perfect and hopefully next time I won't need to take so many shots haha . Thank you guys so much for reading and I hope everyone has a great weekend! It's hard to believe that by 2025, scientists estimate that there will be so much light pollution that no one will ever know what this looks like ever again. *so sad*
This is just an amazing shot! Keep snapping those starry nights for everyone can see!

Really? Wow that's really scary! I hope not! It's barely visible to the naked eye as it is! I hope people keep capturing the Milky Way to show the natural beauty out earth has to offer. Thank you a lot

very nice… and no such thing as to many shots… better to take extra and make sure you have enough to get the pano and everything to lineup right than to not have enough and have to do some wiggling in spots to make it work.. (damn tourists had that problem with a waterfall i did)

Totally agree with you man! It's worth those extra minutes. Lol I hate when people can really ruin a shot . Thank you so much.

no problem! and it might not have been so bad if they were actually using cameras to take their photos.. no they were all using iPads!!! What is with that now days.. every where you go theres someone holding up the big bulky iPad.. don't get me wrong I love mine but really not the best for taking photos especially at events...

haha i know exactly what you're saying those things are like cookie sheets that they're holding in the air! It ruins everything . Pretty much have to watch it though the live view through the ipad it sucks.

This is simply magnificent! It has been a very long time since I've been able to see a decent view of stars in the sky, but I have to say I have never seen such beauty and so many stars as this!
