ExplodedPineapple In reply to BigMaleforFan [2016-06-12 17:44:53 +0000 UTC]

Okay, that s a problem I ve never had before!

Let me see what I can find on this! I ve only found this one, but it doesn t sound like the same problem!

In Photoshop, scratch disk full errors can pop up unexpectedly. The message could mean that one or a number of things have gone wrong.

Step 1 - Check your scratch disk

You will first need to find out what hard drive is set up as your Photoshop scratch disk. You can pull up this information by looking in your Photoshop Preferences. Now, open that hard drive in your desktop. In all likelihood, this hard drive is now extremely full, which is not only bad for Photoshop, but also for your personal storage. Try to clear some space for yourself.

Step 2 - Delete temp files

If you cannot bring yourself to delete any of your files, there may be some Photoshop files that you can erase. Look for any Photoshop temp files that start with "pst" followed by some numbers and then the file extension ".tmp". These are expendable as long as your work is saved.

Step 3 - Assign a new scratch disk

You can also change which hard drive you want set as your scratch disk. Make sure that your new choice has free space then go back to your Photoshop preferences and make the assignment. You can also use multiple hard drives.

When your scratch disk is full it is only a matter of data management to fix it. A little reorganizing should get you back on track.

Aaah! Yeah, layers can be a joykill! They tend to add up a lot to the workload of your PC!

Hm, I don t really know. I have quite a powerful PC, so I don t have to deal with those problems that often.

Gaming-laptops became great over the years! Got one as well and I m still lucky with it! - Only my CPU is kinda a bottleneck.

aaaaaaaaaah , gonna keep that in mind !!! and this is for you : www.asus.com/Notebooks/ROG-GX7…

ExplodedPineapple In reply to BigMaleforFan [2016-06-16 10:51:04 +0000 UTC]

From my experience, it s always the CPU that serves as a bottleneck (heat + power-consumption). I got an i7 Quadcore with 2,55GHz. Good CPU for a laptop, but for gaming I would prefer one with at least 3.55GHz and the potential to overclock stuff without roasting my laptop. But well, it can still handle most games (some of the newer ones not on Ultra-settings anymore, but how could I complain? My laptop is 2 years old!)
Now that s what I call techie-porn! What a beautiful machine! - But I really don t want to know the price on that one!

BigMaleforFan In reply to ExplodedPineapple [2016-06-18 10:56:42 +0000 UTC]

hmmmm ...... i think i may have to look for more powerful laptops then . i'm not much of a gamer anymore , but i sure as heck use heavy programs !!!

trust me , you're better off not knowing !!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ExplodedPineapple In reply to BigMaleforFan [2016-06-19 08:05:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, true! - Some programs can get pretty heavy if you let them do their thing! As for laptop-CPUs: 2,5 - 2,9GHz Quadcores are common in gaming-laptops. As mentioned, laptops have two big problems: Power consumption and heat. And well, the higher your CPU s frequenzy, the higher its powersurge and the higher the temperature will be, so I kinda see why such crazy things like a watercooling-dock for a laptop exists. Also: Prices of a good gaming-laptop with a nice set of components can turn out quite pricey. Usually you can build the same system as a desktop-PC with half the budget (at least here in Germany.)

Yeah, I bet the price is heart-attack-fuel!

BigMaleforFan In reply to ExplodedPineapple [2016-06-19 16:07:33 +0000 UTC]

it's the same thing here as well . i asked , and with half the price of a gaming laptop , i can make a super gaming desktop !!!

it's around $3500 !!!

ExplodedPineapple In reply to BigMaleforFan [2016-06-19 16:38:05 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah! I want to build myself another rig as well as soon as I m done with university and my rig doesn t need to be portable anymore (My trusty laptop saved my ass quite a few times - It s nice being able to render stuff high quality in a reassonable amount of time, even if all the Work-PCs at the university are booked out!). But yeah, with around 1000€ you can build one hell of a PC that will work fine for a couple of years (And well: It s a desktop! You need a faster CPU? Upgrade that thing without any trouble!) - As you clearly have noticed by now, I m a huge fan of desktops! - Also, building PCs is kinda fun. Kinda like Lego for geeks.

Now, that s actually quite reasonable! I would have thought it 5000+ actually. But on the other hand: It s not an Alienware-PC! - Trust me, that shit s expensive! - And that even for no big reason!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BigMaleforFan In reply to ExplodedPineapple [2016-06-20 09:45:48 +0000 UTC]

i couldn't agree more !!! we make Lego as fun as sitting through electrical wiring class !!!

remember , $3500 is only a speculation , it could go higher , much higher . but Asus is usually reasonable with their pricing , unlike Apple and Lenovo .

ExplodedPineapple In reply to BigMaleforFan [2016-06-21 06:48:49 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah! - And Nvidia just announced their new generation of videocards! It looks neat! (But I m still waiting for the benchmarks!)

Well, agreed! - But I really like the keyboards Lenovo builds into their laptops! But all in all, I m a fan of Asus. They make reasonably priced stuff that doesn t break down that easily. An in terms of expensive: Imagine Apple and Alienware to team up and build a PC - That shit would be expensive!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BigMaleforFan In reply to ExplodedPineapple [2016-06-22 07:39:27 +0000 UTC]

wow you follow IT more than i do !!!

let me look up the prices on those two ............... HOLY SHIT I DID NOT WANT TO IMAGINE THAT !!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ExplodedPineapple In reply to BigMaleforFan [2016-06-22 08:36:32 +0000 UTC]

Well, I m a gamer. You wouldn t believe how often you got to argue with people about your system s specs and that there are so many better solutions out there by now, what is true, but it doesn t change the fact that I m pretty broke and can t afford this fancy new videocard XD - The GTX 1080 (The new card) hits stores in Germany at around 600€ - so yeah, not gonna happen anytime soon!

The funny thing: Our university got Alienware-PCs for some reason. Well, I would have fancied more RAM over that brand, but that s none of my buisness!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BigMaleforFan In reply to ExplodedPineapple [2016-06-22 09:38:41 +0000 UTC]

it's extortion , that's what it is !!! " you can't play the new games unless you buy our super expensive new product , and it's recommended you buy our other products as well " , well fuck you !!!

really ? Alienware doesn't have enough RAM ?!!! the more you know !!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ExplodedPineapple In reply to BigMaleforFan [2016-06-22 13:12:30 +0000 UTC]

Yup, that s the annoying part! - But well, I play  for gameplay, not graphics, so I can play with low settings as well!

Well, at least the PCs we own. It still got 16 GB, but the problem is the "check-software" that runs on the PCs.

BigMaleforFan In reply to ExplodedPineapple [2016-06-23 13:45:13 +0000 UTC]

funny how different minds think , isn't it ? you play for the gameplay , i play for the story , etc. !!!

oh , how much RAM does it consume ?

ExplodedPineapple In reply to BigMaleforFan [2016-06-23 14:40:40 +0000 UTC]

Oh, don t get me wrong! I m always in for a great story! That s why I love Okami so much! It s story-driven, gameplay is fun and I just admire the artstyle of the game.

I don t really know. I don t work that often on the uni-PCs (mostly because I really despise the working-area they are located at. So crowded and I hate it when people constantly breath down my neck. Almost broke one guy s nose for this!)

BigMaleforFan In reply to ExplodedPineapple [2016-06-26 11:37:31 +0000 UTC]

oops , sorry forgot about Okami !!!

kind of like ours !!! except ours was in a big room with LOTS of PCs , so hardly anyone ever breathed down anyone's neck !!! but you be careful with that temper of yours , you wouldn't want to be caught for assault do you ?!!!
