I've been in a Producers mood recently and besides which I haven't drawn Max and Leo before. Seeing as there have been many Max and Leo's over the years, I tried to come up with my own design for them but it's rather obvious that I'm heavily influenced by the original actors Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder.Here Max Bialystock outlines the Broadway scheme to Leo Bloom.
It took me ages to get Max's hand right and as a result I was a little enthusiastic with the blue pencil which eventually stained the paper. I managed to remove the aura of blue around the fingers but it still looks like Max has poor circulation!

I've seen the new movie and the Israeli version of the theatre production, they were both very funny and the songs kicked ass, but the original is the absolute best.
The other versions just lacked Gene's psychotic and compulsive behavior that made Leo so freaking adorable. I was totally waiting for Broderick to scream his head off and go mad over the blanket, and he never did

The Leo I saw in London also somewhat struggled to get as really hysterical as Gene did in the film and his American accent somewhat twisted a bit so he sounded like Kermit the Frog at times!
I guess all future Leo's have in the back of their head that they'll never be quite as good as the original.

Very, very nice. Your style is very good to Leo and Max, and you've done a fantastic job with their expression (no pun intended). It's not just in the face, their postures just emanate Leo's ability to be pulled along, and Max's vision and excitement.
