Ultimo is still an alien doomsday weapon of unknown alien origin in this alternate Marvel Universe who crashed landed on Earth thousands of years ago in the arctic waste of what is now Alaska and remained deactivated & buried until modern times when mind controlled operatives of the Controller accidentally discovered him in a routine search for artifacts or weapons to aid the Controller in his goals. The Controller used his technical knowledge to reprogram & reactivate the giant humanoid to be used as a weapon in his attempts at world domination. Ultimo was defeated by the combined efforts of Iron Man, War Machine, The Guardsman & S.H.I.E.L.D.’s technical division. S.H.I.EL.D. currently has custody of Ultimo’s once again deactivated form in a special containment facility, fearing that his original alien directive could possibly reassert itself making Ultimo an even big threat to humanity than it was under the control of the Controller.
