November 11 is Rememberance Day here in Australia, where, at 11am, the country stops for a minute's silence to remember those who died in World War 1. In terms of the number of men killed per capita, Australia lost more soldiers than any other country in the Great War.

86 years on, commemorations like Rememberance Day are becoming more and more popular. Younger people are remembering the sacrifices that so many made nearly a century ago, ensuring that their legacy will live on into the future.

This is the senotaph outside the front of the Australian War Memorial. The wreaths around it were laid there several days ago as part of the national commemoration.
