So cool, seeing a B-1 takeoff with full afterburner looks like something out of a drag race.

I do miss that! At Luke in its heyday, we had 4 ADAF F-15 units, 4 ADAG F-16 units, oneΒ AFRES F-16 unit and one FMS F=16 unit.Β At least one or two would be engaged in night flying, so watching night AB takeoffs were common.Β I used to run jets on the trim pads as well up to full burner as seen here f16crewchief.deviantart.com/arβ¦

at Dyess? Is that where you are stationed? Nice to meet another maintainer.

Yup. At Dyess. It got towed to its spot about five or six years ago. I actually loaded that jet when it was active, too...and I'm still here with it.

Was it the B-1 or the B-52 which got itΒ΄s nuke cap removed...?

I really do not know! I have approx 15,000 military serials (or more) on color slides. I note just serials. I have up to eight views of one serial number in different unit marks. (for example, my jet 78-0014 [link] I have photos of it as "HL" Blue (Hill AFB with a blue band), "HL" Chex, "LF" Green, Kansas ANG, Michigan ANG (no code), "MI" Multi (Michigan ANG) and later as Isreali AF with SN 702. That counts as one serial. I traded photo's with folks all over the US and the world.

Goodness!
I would think there's a national treasure in all that. That's amazing!
