Amazing view of two classic AC that I grew up seeing. FT Rucker had these 54s all over the place, and I would see nat metal F-100Fs fly over with firebee drones sometimes.

Cool shot. I've seen civilian CH-54's used in firefighting and logging operations.

Can you explain to me how they make money from logging with helicopters? Are the trees very special or?
If you know...

focallength In reply to putrick [2011-05-07 18:57:54 +0000 UTC]

They're used to haul logs from remote areas that you can't access by truck. They can carry several logs at a time to the trucks to take them to the sawmills.

It makes perfect sense.

putrick In reply to focallength [2011-05-08 16:11:50 +0000 UTC]

Of course they wouldnΒ΄t do it, if it wasnΒ΄t any money in it. IΒ΄m sure it isnΒ΄t for making paper, there has to be something special with the wood.

focallength In reply to putrick [2011-05-08 16:30:58 +0000 UTC]

I think it's for lumber. Other than that, it's just ordinary wood.
