It would probably help if you defined these terms to give this a bit more clarity (especially for people who don't recognize a lot of these characters).

Well, it's less of just Lawful/Neutral/Chaotic and Good/Neutral/Evil than most character alignments, this is more of a gradient.  "Moral" meaning that, while still leaning towards "Good", they're more likely to get their hands dirty than someone who's truly good.  Likewise, "Impure" means that they're still a bad person, but with enough redeeming qualities to avoid being truly evil.

"Social" and "Rebel" are more or less the same things, just with Order and Chaos, rather than Good and Evil.

I can understand what the individual terms mean, but I still don't understand what defines them together: Rebel Neutral, Chaotic Moral, Social Evil, these might as well be in another language for as much sense as they make. I can infer that Social Good would be 'good as perceived by society/surroundings' and Rebel Good is going against society for the right reasons (like Robin Hood) but these definitions don't mean something unless I know what they mean like with the more familiar and straightforward 3x3 chart you mentioned.

"Social Evil" would be someone who knows the rules of society, and is willing to use them to hurt others like a Lawful Evil person would, but is more willing to break the rules than a Lawful Evil person, though not as often as a Neutral Evil one.

Chaotic Moral would be like... Lina Inverse from "Slayers".  Someone who just doesn't give a rat's ass about what others think of their actions, but when the chips are down, they tend to do what's right.

Rebel Neutral would basically be a free-spirited person who isn't quite as extreme as a Chaotic Neutral one.

And if they're a bit confusing, well, I didn't make up this particular set of alignments, or their names.  Not really sure who did, TBH.

Thanks, this really helps. So, can you tell me where you did find the information on these other alignments so I can fill in the gaps in my chart?

Sadly, I just saw other 5 x 5 charts here on dA, and tried to figure them out as best as I could.

Would "Rebel" be the category of people who live lawful, orderly personal lives but espouse personal freedom (one of the tenets of Chaos) for everyone else to choose their own order? Or would that be "Social"?

The first one is correct.

I guess I would be Social Moral. The Law, Goodness, and Neutrality all have their limits...but these are the things we revere, and lean towards.

I would lean towards Neutral good with most people. (Perpetuate righteousness for righteousness's sake. Be a Goody 2 shoes with a rebel side. Cooperate with the law, partly because you don't want to give them a reason or excuse to be abusive or rigid. Avoid getting caught in red tape over a technicality is an incredible PAIN IN THE BUTT. Oh yeah, and so you don't hurt or screw anybody. Golden rule here, bud.)

...but with certain characters I would have to be pretending to be lawful neutral (Cadre in the army, or certain people trying to manipulate me by my conscience). I'm out, now.

I don't have the balls to say it, but I think "If my freedom has limits then so does your authority." Getting scary to say that with the militarization of the police lately.

Somebody who knew me in the army would say I would be neutral good, saying I "have a mean side, but I don't act on it." He was a good friend, a Native American NCO and he considered himself Chaotic Good.

Too bad I don't know who that character is.

I saw somebody else post Social Moral on there as Ned Flanders.

Who else would you say would be Social Moral?

I would like to see more of the 5 by 5 alignment charts...
Know what characters I would like to see thrown in, that I don't think get used?

Those from Redwall, Animorphs, Calvin and Hobbes, Narnia, the Farside, and more Rareware games.
Plenty have been done for Sega, anime, and Star Wars.
But the 5 by 5 is really cool when it covers multiple franchises.

Know what would be awesome? If you had a 5 by 5 alignment chart, and you had several characters per slot. (like Neutral Good would include Sora, Luke Skywalker, Spider Man, Batman, Samus Aran, perhaps a total of five, and they would cycle the faces and quotes when you clicked on them. Same for the others. Chaotic Neutral? Captain Jack Sparrow, Conan the Barbarian, Han Solo, earlier versions of Godzilla. Just an idea. Guess I need to learn how to do it.
So Krystal would be Lawful Moral? I thought everything she stood for was for the helping of her tribe, and she was like a more emotionally hurt Katara when it came to her outlook on life and mission (not personality).
I see Krystal as secretly crying a little on the inside. Her emotion is what drives her, even t though it would normally make her weak.

It's just that this is the Eibonverse, which isn't exactly the most... forgiving.  Even the people listed in the "good" have still done some morally questionable things for the sake of simple survival.  Krystal's main mission is to get Cerinia free from the control of the Earth-Cardassia Alliance, but since this is the Eibonverse, that isn't going to go well.  Especially since this was made in the Early Eibon days, before I added bits of Doctor Who, Green Lantern, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica in.

I'm a little confused. could you explain the Social and Impure alignments?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FacepalmPunch In reply to Zenrix [2013-03-10 20:48:38 +0000 UTC]

"Social" means they obey the law to a degree. They obey it enough to avoid being neutral, but not enough to fully be considered "lawful".

"Impure" is similar. Enough redeeming qualities to keep them from being completely evil, but still a tremendous prick.

Zenrix In reply to FacepalmPunch [2013-03-10 21:18:01 +0000 UTC]

So then "moral" is obviously the selfish version of "good" and "rebel" is the calmer form of "chaotic", right? I just find this version of the Alignment Chart to be a whole lot better than the regular one. A lot more trouble picking for pic slots though, I'm sure.

Thanks for the timely answer!

FacepalmPunch In reply to Zenrix [2013-03-10 22:30:40 +0000 UTC]

Pretty much. Or, "moral" means that they just have flaws that prevent them from being wholly good, yet are still decent people.

Yeah, it's harder in some ways, but easier in the sense that now, you have more characters to choose from.

You're welcome.

On a side note, you have two 'Social Impure's in your list. Happened to notice that when I was looking up the people on said list.

Sooo...

When are you making this a reality? This really sounds like something I'd read and drool over. And really sounds like an awesome idea. Nothing better then some crossover madness.

Soon. I'm writing the prequel now.
