Hoihoi all. This will be a big departure from my previous work and will likely not make a whole lot of sense to most of you. Because you will likely only know one of the characters in this piece. That being Levin the Gazimon former goon. But despite that I hope you enjoy the silly digital monsters doing their best. This was written as my contribution to the Freelancers, mainly a discord group of Digimon fans and supportive people in general, rather than the art a lot of the others do.

The basic plot for this is that this is shortly after Levin was recruited into the Freelancers. So a lot of his former outlook and actions are still similar to when he was under the employ of Etemon as one of his Gazimon goons. While also carrying around a lot of survivors guilt and ptsd in a way of when the Dark Network collapsed. So Alephmon, not the official leader but often considered it as the little Paladin tries his best to help Levin adjust and maybe even try to help Levin deal with his trauma later.

The sandwiches were being assembled at quite the rate as Andromeda quickly transferred pan from oven to stove top to make sure the Gulimon bread faces would be just right! Several other Freelancers happily sitting and chatting as they raised their noses and sniffed the air. It smelt so good! Neko and Aleph fist bumping at the soon to be excellent fresh lunch they would have as both Digi kneaded their hands into the table. Struggling to even wait the little bit of extra time that would be needed to eat!

A late arrival to the kitchen finally stumbling in and stifling a yawn as the grey furred Gazimon didn't seem to notice he had his hoodie on backwards. Silly big ears barely seemed to notice what room he was in as he swayed forward on backwards with his arms flapping a little to keep balance. Before he finally muttered 'food good' and shambled toward the table.

Night smirking at the sleepy as he scooted a bit over so the mostly asleep Levin could more easily find a seat. The Gulimon bread being expertly sliced down the side by Andromedas' claws and then flipped to the other side of the plate by the same claw as the small buffet of fillings were already laid out. The Gulimon reaching over to smack Alephs paw away from the roast beef as she shook that crumb covered claw at him.

"Not yet! Its almost ready." The blue floof giving the chef his biggest sad face with ears down and eyes wide but all he got was a tongue stuck out at him before back to sliceing the breads open. For future filling! Levin finally finding himself a place at the table as he almost flopped face first onto it. The formally sad looking Alephmon reaching over to help steady the Gazi as he giggled at the goon.

"Awake enough to eat Levin?" The Gazi just blinking slowly at the blue hand on his chest before he squinted down the arm up to the happy face it belonged too. Making an odd blergleh sound before he nodded.

"Food good."

"Very much so!" Night confirmed as he popped a cookie in his mouth...where he got it from is anyone's guess before the data mon looked over at the cooked food that was almost ready! Neko ducking down to look under the table to see if there were any other cookies for him to eat but seemingly no go as he returned to his normal sitting position and smiled over at Levin.

"Well the food should wake you up good Levin - were you up late watching those shows again?" Levin shaking his head as he frowned and rubbed his eyes.

"No...no no. Couldn't sleep." Aleph now frowning as well as he moved his chest pressing hand to Levins shoulder. Squeezing a bit as there was now a little connection between them. Like a small stream of data flowed out of one of Levins ears to form into a little screen! Showing a desert. That seemed to be experiencing a sandstorm. Before the view of it turned to see a large black hole, with many shapes being dragged into it.

But before the Pally could react to that there was a cheer from Night and Neko as the opened bread slices were slid over to each of them on plates. Andromeda now gesturing to the fillings to be used as she started to fill up her own Gulimon bread face! Many cheers from all three as Neko started to fill his up with ketchup! On both the top and bottom! Making little hyah and nyah sounds as he stabbed that bottle expertly into the bread! Neko looking over at the sleepy Levin again and snickered at him. "Well if you are still struggling to sleep tonight just let me know tonight! I'm sure I can make you good and comfy~"

Night, after popping another small cookie in his mouth, would smirk as well as he started to slide in some cheese to his own sandwich. "And if you need a buddy, I'll sleep with you too!" Well both were good suggestions and helping as Aleph just patting Levins shoulder and helped make sure his plate was central to him for easier grabbing as the Gazimon yawned again. Aleph grabbing that roast beef as he nodded to himself. He would help Levin today with the chores. Silly squish needed it. And he needed that delish beef! While not a full burger the small slices of it would almost taste like it...Especially if he stacked many of them! Though he would glance over to make sure Levin was working on food which he thankfully was.

The Gazimon first sliding in a leaf of lettuce before layering ham, turkey, and roast beef over it. Struggling a little trying to get a cheese slice off the stack before he looked over at Aleph watching him. His mostly beef sandwich half in his mouth before the Pally took a happy bite. It was close enough!

"What?" The goon would ask before Aleph just nodded at his sandwich.

"Seems you know what you want, eaten these before?" Those floof wing ears shaking side to side as Levin pushed down on the sandwich top once he was done to smoosh it all together. Aleph approved! Before he responded.

"Not these no - but Humans had these fillings a lot back in their world. Very tasty when I managed to steal a fresh one." Ah - not so good. But Aleph would keep his smile regardless as he gave a hearty thumbs up! And another nom of the beef sandwich. He had a feeling what hed seen was related to what had happened a couple nights ago in the kitchen with Zoom. Seems like those Network memories were not letting Levin forget them.

"Well now you don't need to steal them anymore! You can get them much easier from your friends here!"

"It does make it easier to eat." Well that was something at least? Aleph looking back to make sure Neko and Night were doing alright and both were happily chewing away on their Gulimon bread. Andromeda also partaking in her own cooking as she happily chomped off one ear then the other! Things going alright so far as he turned back to Levin, who had used his backwards hoodie to plop the sandwich in the hood to be able to chew on it without using his hands. Which were instead being used to better prop him up on the table. Another nod to himself as Aleph chomped more tasty tasty beef as he looked over at the chore schedule on the wall. The small magnet of Levins face, with big happy smile he unfortunately didn't seem to often have, currently on grounds keeping today. He could help with that. Another nom before he turned to the Gazimon.

"Looks like you are on the grounds outside today Levin," a grumble from the zap bun. "But don't worry! I'll help you out!" That got a blink as he took another bite of his hands free food as he turned to look at Aleph.

"Helping me?" A bit of a side eye. "Why? Is the standard work going to be more than normal? A sudden extra project?"

"Not at all!" A happy smile and patting of one of Levins ears. "Just going where a Paladin needs to too make sure everyone is alright." Night and Neko both nodding in agreement as Night squeaked up from around his cheesy bread.

"He does it often. Just be careful around heavy things," as both he and Neko winked - making those blue cheeks take on a hint of red.

"They tend to have a habit of not staying where you left them." Neko added as Levin looked back at his tail. Seemingly worried that would be smushed as Aleph stuck out his tongue to both of them! Before stuffing the last bit of the burger stand in down the hatch and chewing away.

"You'll be fine Levin. The normal amount of careful we have us be just fine." And with the main chatting complete everyone else focused on eating those tasty sandwiches! It was a very nice lunch. But unfortunately soon time for chores as the group split to head toward their assigned tasks for the day.

Levin removing his hoodie and shaking out the crumbs from the hood itself once he got off the bench seat before slipping it back over himself properly. Aleph reaching out to help make sure it was snug around his torso with a smile! Levin initially whapping his tail over those arms before huffing and slipping those handclaws into the tummy pouch. "Thanks."

"No problem! Always looking out for each other!"

"I guess...Just didn't need help with that." Aleph just smiling it off as he gestured at the door back into the castles halls. Levin heading off and turning right to head out toward the courtyard. "Still good you were looking out for it."

"Thats the spirit Levin! You'll be a good Freelancer soon enough. And we'll all help you along the way." Both stepping through an arch and heading further out.

"Maybe. I'll admit the whole recruitment was a bit," he hummed to himself. "Tight, courtesy of Neko. But at least here I don't have to work as hard to steal food and less chance of being kicked by Humans and thrown in the trash." Aleph giving him two eager thumbs up.

"Yup! And you'll even be able to help Humans soon! They will be happy to have a little Digi buddy of their own even if its only temporary." The Gazimon looking to the other side of the hallway as they neared the courtyard.

"I doubt that - Humans never seemed to care much about me or the other Gazimon. Just pests to them." Before he acked at a sudden side hug from the Paladin!

"No need for that Levin they will love you!" Another flash of history leaking out of the tight squeeze as Aleph briefly saw a blue goggles wearing boy in front of what he could guess was Levins hands. An Agumon between the two before the vision was full of fire. "Just need to give them a better impression!" Letting go before Levins little side hops trying to balance himself would bonk both into the wall. Levin grunting and fidgeting with his hoodie as he looked at the floor. Though he didn't say anything for awhile as he started to walk again.

"Maybe." Hey there's a chance there! Just something to slowly work at over time. Aleph had some idea of what Levin was going through from what he had seen and heard so far but if he kept being positive and supportive he was sure he could make Levin into a helpful Freelancer. The fact that turning a former baddie goon into a Freelancer would really show off their message well was just a bonus! A fluffy zappy bonus. The two out in the courtyard now as the rhythmic banging of metal on metal sounded across it.

Kuromon waving at the two briefly before he was back hammering the...whatever it was he was making. Something important no doubt. Ember, his Gabumon assistant, not even looking over as he tried to hold the tongs steady. A cool shower of sparks splashing off the anvil with each strike! Levin and Aleph quickly moving past to not disrupt them. Best not to make them need to make a lot of changes to something they were working on like that. "Probably more weapons for if they are needed," Aleph commented with a nod as Levin glanced at the shiny sword the Paladin carried around. Before looking back at the shop and squinting at the anvil. Lots of little lines all over. Though he was a bit too far away to tell what it really was. Though the laptop sat behind the Void blacksmith was something he recognized. Seemed a little odd to have that in a forge but he really didn't know much of anything about smacking metal to make better metal as he glanced back at Aleph and his sword.

"That from here too?"

"It is actually!" Reaching back to likely take it out dramatically before instead he just patted the pommel over his shoulder. "Well I had one before but it wasn't really super good. But Kuro helped me make a proper one once we got set up here! And its served me very well." Winking at the Gazimon. "Maybe you'll get one too!"

Levin just shrugging as he pulled his hands out of his pouch and clicked his claws together. Making a few sparks jump between them. "Dunno how well I could hold something like that with these. And waving a sword around doesn't seem like a good way to show Humans I'm friendly and here to uhhh..." Tilting his head a bit as he tried to remember. "Be a Digi buddy." Silly fluff had a point there! But Aleph just struck a heroic pose in the grass!

"Your actions will prove your intentions more than what you look like Levin! Not to worry your fluffy helpful self will be a great buddy." Unfortunately Levin would frown at that as he kicked at a grass tuft near him.

"My actions were not good." Aleph opening his mouth before the bun continued. "But here I can try to do better." Yay! Already thinking ahead! And Levin would even look back up with a bit of a smile. Thats a bit of improvement!

But those weeds weren't going to pull themselves out of the ground while the two were talking about history and the future. So they would give a last wave to the two smiths and head to the far side of the courtyard toward the main gate to the outside! But they would look over at a grumbly snuffle noise from a little tree grove. Curiosity getting the better of both Digi as they wriggled over to peak their heads through. And it was unfortunate that both would aww at the scene and draw attention to themselves.

Monzaemon was currently sat on a nice comfy blanket with a half eaten roll in one of his big mitts. And at the aww he would look sleepily over at the two Digi faces and smile good and big! The free arm reaching out and swiftly snatching the two whos awws turned to epps as both were squished into that soft teddy tummy! "Hugs for guests! A mini lovely attack!" Both Aleph and Levin squirming their feet and tails as they were smooshed in the one armed hug from the big Teddy before they were both plopped down on the blanket. Eyes rolling from the squish as they swayed on their new seats trying to recover. Before a fresh roll was plopped into their hands from the basket in the middle of the blanket. The two now looking just like the plushies, toy soldiers, and trains that also circled the picnic basket. They were apparently invited to the toy picnic now! The big bear going back to happily sitting there as he chomped the remainder of his roll. "Welcome to the second toy lunch of the day! Eat!" Before another roll was already in his hand and rising toward that mouth, getting a light toasting from his laser eyes, and then another chomp.

Aleph and Levin hurfing as their chests and backs started to expand back into their normal shapes and the world came back into focus. Seemingly realizing what they were involved with now as they picked up their own bread roll. It would be rude to leave after all so they started to chew on them as well. It was very nice bread. But before they could even get halfway through the food they would look over at a snore. To see that Monzaemon was sleeping sat up with his head slightly forward. A bubble slowing expanding and shrinking from his mouth. Seems the comfy seat, second lunch, and warm sun meant this was the perfect time for a nap! The two smaller Digis finishing their bread roll before carefully getting up and backing off the big picnic blanket. Levin taking the time to sit a bunny plush back upright that fell over as they retreated. But they did have a job to do. And eating much more would lead to them likely falling asleep too!

And after carefully squirming through the bushes to not wake the snuggly bear the two would return to their quest to finally exit the main gate of the castle. Gota get the chore out of the way eventually.

Thankfully the small shed that housed the tools and chemicals to deal with the grounds was right outside the gate and the two worked together to lift up the wheel barrow and pull it backwards out of the shed before turning and pushing. Thankfully it wasn't far too go as the two huffed a bit pushing the Human sized wheel barrow along.

"Could have gotten a smaller one," Levin would complain as they both had to reach up to hold the back prongs off the ground to allow it to move. But before Aleph could explain the reasoning the Gazi would add. "But then again at least its all in here. Not having to go back and fourth a bunch."

"Right you are!" Aleph giving one of those wing ears a pat. "Got a smart noggin on that head of yours." Levin giving a little smile back as he reached up to take hold of the edge of the barrow. Pulling on it as a test before he clambered up to more easily see inside before taking out a trowel and handing it down to Aleph before he carefully extracted the wheel section of a push-reel lawn mower and handed it down to Aleph. Thankfully no dropping before the handle was pulled out as well. Still a lot of stuff in the barrow like fertilizer, weed killer, and tools but these would do for now as the zap bun hopped down and nodded at his working buddy.

"I try, you want to start on the weeds and I'll push?" Aleph nodding back as he held the wheels steady for Levin to clip in the bars into it before he tilted the entire thing over so his short frame could more easily grab the handles. Sure it wasn't meant to be used like this with its little support bar facing the sky but at least he could hold it like this. And turning and holding it behind him the Gazi started to walk. The whirring spinning of the blades getting quieter as Aleph moved over to the dirt and started to dig up some of the more obvious weeds.

He would look over when Levin came back around and smile. "You seem to be doing it straight, did you watch Humans do this before?"

"Yes a few times, but they were the annoying loud ones," Levins voice fading away as he moved past before he turned and headed back. "That smelt terrible. Only one old lady used one like this. Much better." More fade out fade in. "She was nice, gave me some oats I think it was? Decent stuff."

"Yeah thats one thing about the Humans world." Waiting for his yard buddy to come back. "That I still struggle to get used to. Its so loud almost all the time."

"Agree with you there." Levin replied as Aleph started to make a pile of the weeds he had dug up from the ground. Maybe they could do something with these? Even if they didn't eat them here maybe some Numemon or something would eat them? "So many cars and engines just everywhere. Even in their tunnels." Better than just throwing them away. The Pally would just need to make sure that he kept an eye on them to see what the others thought. "Even more noisy if you are inside one of their trucks."

"When did you do that?" Aleph asked with a little oooh face. Had Levin gone on a grand adventure before Neko and himself were told to bring him back?

"It wasn't by choice. I must have stolen from the wrong Human who didn't want to just give it up." Back and fourth again - with Aleph stopping his work as he was worried now. "Was stuffed into one of those shiny black bags and tossed into a big truck. Very loud and stinky." A shrug from Levin. "Woke up back at my little base where uhhh...you and Neko found me."

"Thats a garbage truck." Another voice would pipe up. And both yard workers would look over to see a hooooman walking over! With a Gammamon at their side though a little ahead of them. Clearly being the one leading. Zoom offering a little peace sign despite his frown. "Glad you got out of there Levin."

"Pfft, trash." Yes Arc very observant! Levin sticking his tongue out at the Gamma as he returned back to the mowing. He was making pretty decent progress as Aleph smiled at the two new arrivals and waved with his trowel! Making Arc glare at the 'weapon' the blue fluff was holding and moving up a hand to be ready should he strike! Before Aleph thankfully lowered it down. So instead the Gamma would head over to the wheelbarrow.

"I am too. Levin is much better off here. With no need to steal and having to fight for keeping going day to day!"

"Fighting is good though, builds strenght and character," yet again some real pearls of wisdom from Arc as he placed both his hands on the wheel barrow and pushed upwards! Tilting the entire thing almost over before setting it back down again. Seemingly just to show off that he could. Well whatever made him happy Aleph mused as he looked back at Zoom and patted his leg.

"Glad to see you two are working better today."

"We are."

"We are? Pfft. At least you said that with more emphasis than you did before Zoom. Thats some improvement." Well it was a start at least as Zoom shrugged.

"We are going to check on one of the walls to make sure the repairs are still holding. You two keep doing a good job here." Zoom nodded as he reached down to boop that Aleph nose! Making the little bluey epp and hold it before the Human smiled and walked off. Arc following after and growling at Levin as he passed him. But the Gazimon just stuck out his tongue again before being back with Aleph.

"Hope I was never as tiring as him."

"Not at all Levin! You a good goon and you'll keep being better here. We'll keep improving as a team!" Side hugging Levin would return the gesture with one arm with a half smile. His other arm still holding the mower as the bun would fold one foot over the other before he cleared his throat.

"R...right. Think the mowing was good?" Aleph looking over and nodding as the two worked to unclip the handle from the mower before they lifted it up to slid it into the barrel. Before there was a scfft of dirt. Both of them widening their eyes as the barrow, unbalanced from Arc, tilted away from them before toppling over right onto both of them! Their squeaks and epps of surprise barely heard over the tumbling of tools as both were squashed flat into the grass from the barrow flopping down over then. Aleph slightly over Levin as in the brief moment before impact he had tried to cover his new buddy but in the end both got flattened.

Though at least as they both lay there under the side of the wheel barrow with spinning eyes and tweeting birds around their head Aleph would get another little view into Levins past. Though it wasn't a nice continuous show like a movie. More like a rapid short compilation at 1.5x speed. Like one of those silly online videos the human kids just loved to watch. Likely caused by the squishing. But the sand was back. Augamon too as he evolved into Greymon. Gazi hands waving as he tried to avoid the fire. Before flying through the air. Etemon taking the field and throwing Dark Spirits all over as the Gazimon and other Digimon were thrown aside by the Boss so he could get at the children. The Network collapsing. Etemon back inside the mass. Before the complete collapse. The vortex sucking in so many. Gazi hands reaching out around the wires he had grabbed onto. Before blackness. Then sand. Empty sand. Alone. Hungry and without purpose. Alone.

"You two alright?!" A familiar voice piping up as Aleph blinked a few times to clear that video out of his mind and looking around as much as he could to see two blue hands grabbing onto the wheel barrow. Two different shades of blue. Working together as the two Veemon heaved the barrow off the two pinned under it before starting to help get both back up. Kaida helping Levin as Stry worked on peeling Aleph off of Levin. The two coming apart with a pop as the two Veemon gave their chosen targets a good shake to try and get them back to normal. No go so far but at least their heads started to clear as they were held mostly upright as the Vees tilted their flat Freelancer posters to better look at them. "You two ok? Some words would be calming right about now."

"Maaaf," well said Aleph.

"Ow." And Levin adding in the crucial context there. Both Vees letting out a breath before all four were scooped up in big warm yellow arms! How had Monzaemon snuck up on them all like that!

"Hello friends! You are all just in time for lunch three!" The big bear turning and tromping off back into the castle as Stry hugged Aleph and worked on getting unsquished and Kaida just shook Levin over the side of Monzaemaons arm. And they had at least gotten them not completely flat as they were plopped down on the blanket. Some toys now inside the big picnic basket to make room as apples and cheese were soon lightly laser toasted and put in their arms.

The nomming beginning though Aleph seemed distracted. Levin didn't seem to have felt the little montage that Aleph saw and he eventually looked over after pulling on his own nose to pop it back to its normal shape. "Levin?"

"Mmmgnmp?"

"Did you ever hear back from your old co-workers?" A headshake. "Would you like to go to the Village of Beginnings at some point? Im sure they would be happy to see you if they are still there." Levin taking a slower bite as he looked at the comfy blanket they were all sat on. Looking at it for awhile as everyone turned to watch him.

"Maybe." Before he was lightly punched in the arm by Kaida, that almost sent him flipping over sideways, before Stry helped to steady him.

"It will be a good trip! And maybe help you think about what happened better!" Aleph glad he had a plan now as the group returned to third lunch. Though Levin was still eating slowly as he thought about what Aleph wanted to do. Sure it made a good amount of sense but...would it be good?

Well if he went with other Freelancers it wouldn't be terrible right? But such were concerns for another day as once their food was complete the four were soon flumped in a pile on Monzaemons big soft squishy tummy. Snoozing away in the afternoon sun.

On both the top and bottom! Making little hyah and nyah sounds as he stabbed that bottle expertly into the bread! Neko looking over at the sleepy Levin again and snickered at him. "Well if you are still struggling to sleep tonight just let me know tonight! I'm sure I can make you good and comfy~"

Night, after popping another small cookie in his mouth, would smirk as well as he started to slide in some cheese to his own sandwich. "And if you need a buddy, I'll sleep with you too!" Well both were good suggestions and helping as Aleph just patting Levins shoulder and helped make sure his plate was central to him for easier grabbing as the Gazimon yawned again. Aleph grabbing that roast beef as he nodded to himself. He would help Levin today with the chores. Silly squish needed it. And he needed that delish beef! While not a full burger the small slices of it would almost taste like it...Especially if he stacked many of them! Though he would glance over to make sure Levin was working on food which he thankfully was.

The Gazimon first sliding in a leaf of lettuce before layering ham, turkey, and roast beef over it. Struggling a little trying to get a cheese slice off the stack before he looked over at Aleph watching him. His mostly beef sandwich half in his mouth before the Pally took a happy bite. It was close enough!

"What?" The goon would ask before Aleph just nodded at his sandwich.

"Seems you know what you want, eaten these before?" Those floof wing ears shaking side to side as Levin pushed down on the sandwich top once he was done to smoosh it all together. Aleph approved! Before he responded.

"Not these no - but Humans had these fillings a lot back in their world. Very tasty when I managed to steal a fresh one." Ah - not so good. But Aleph would keep his smile regardless as he gave a hearty thumbs up! And another nom of the beef sandwich. He had a feeling what hed seen was related to what had happened a couple nights ago in the kitchen with Zoom. Seems like those Network memories were not letting Levin forget them.

"Well now you don't need to steal them anymore! You can get them much easier from your friends here!"

"It does make it easier to eat." Well that was something at least? Aleph looking back to make sure Neko and Night were doing alright and both were happily chewing away on their Gulimon bread. Andromeda also partaking in her own cooking as she happily chomped off one ear then the other! Things going alright so far as he turned back to Levin, who had used his backwards hoodie to plop the sandwich in the hood to be able to chew on it without using his hands. Which were instead being used to better prop him up on the table. Another nod to himself as Aleph chomped more tasty tasty beef as he looked over at the chore schedule on the wall. The small magnet of Levins face, with big happy smile he unfortunately didn't seem to often have, currently on grounds keeping today. He could help with that. Another nom before he turned to the Gazimon.

"Looks like you are on the grounds outside today Levin," a grumble from the zap bun. "But don't worry! I'll help you out!" That got a blink as he took another bite of his hands free food as he turned to look at Aleph.

"Helping me?" A bit of a side eye. "Why? Is the standard work going to be more than normal? A sudden extra project?"

"Not at all!" A happy smile and patting of one of Levins ears. "Just going where a Paladin needs to too make sure everyone is alright." Night and Neko both nodding in agreement as Night squeaked up from around his cheesy bread.

"He does it often. Just be careful around heavy things," as both he and Neko winked - making those blue cheeks take on a hint of red.

"They tend to have a habit of not staying where you left them." Neko added as Levin looked back at his tail. Seemingly worried that would be smushed as Aleph stuck out his tongue to both of them! Before stuffing the last bit of the burger stand in down the hatch and chewing away.

"You'll be fine Levin. The normal amount of careful we have us be just fine." And with the main chatting complete everyone else focused on eating those tasty sandwiches! It was a very nice lunch. But unfortunately soon time for chores as the group split to head toward their assigned tasks for the day.

Levin removing his hoodie and shaking out the crumbs from the hood itself once he got off the bench seat before slipping it back over himself properly. Aleph reaching out to help make sure it was snug around his torso with a smile! Levin initially whapping his tail over those arms before huffing and slipping those handclaws into the tummy pouch. "Thanks."

"No problem! Always looking out for each other!"

"I guess...Just didn't need help with that." Aleph just smiling it off as he gestured at the door back into the castles halls. Levin heading off and turning right to head out toward the courtyard. "Still good you were looking out for it."

"Thats the spirit Levin! You'll be a good Freelancer soon enough. And we'll all help you along the way." Both stepping through an arch and heading further out.

"Maybe. I'll admit the whole recruitment was a bit," he hummed to himself. "Tight, courtesy of Neko. But at least here I don't have to work as hard to steal food and less chance of being kicked by Humans and thrown in the trash." Aleph giving him two eager thumbs up.

"Yup! And you'll even be able to help Humans soon! They will be happy to have a little Digi buddy of their own even if its only temporary." The Gazimon looking to the other side of the hallway as they neared the courtyard.

"I doubt that - Humans never seemed to care much about me or the other Gazimon. Just pests to them." Before he acked at a sudden side hug from the Paladin!

"No need for that Levin they will love you!" Another flash of history leaking out of the tight squeeze as Aleph briefly saw a blue goggles wearing boy in front of what he could guess was Levins hands. An Agumon between the two before the vision was full of fire. "Just need to give them a better impression!" Letting go before Levins little side hops trying to balance himself would bonk both into the wall. Levin grunting and fidgeting with his hoodie as he looked at the floor. Though he didn't say anything for awhile as he started to walk again.

"Maybe." Hey there's a chance there! Just something to slowly work at over time. Aleph had some idea of what Levin was going through from what he had seen and heard so far but if he kept being positive and supportive he was sure he could make Levin into a helpful Freelancer. The fact that turning a former baddie goon into a Freelancer would really show off their message well was just a bonus! A fluffy zappy bonus. The two out in the courtyard now as the rhythmic banging of metal on metal sounded across it.

Kuromon waving at the two briefly before he was back hammering the...whatever it was he was making. Something important no doubt. Ember, his Gabumon assistant, not even looking over as he tried to hold the tongs steady. A cool shower of sparks splashing off the anvil with each strike! Levin and Aleph quickly moving past to not disrupt them. Best not to make them need to make a lot of changes to something they were working on like that. "Probably more weapons for if they are needed," Aleph commented with a nod as Levin glanced at the shiny sword the Paladin carried around. Before looking back at the shop and squinting at the anvil. Lots of little lines all over. Though he was a bit too far away to tell what it really was. Though the laptop sat behind the Void blacksmith was something he recognized. Seemed a little odd to have that in a forge but he really didn't know much of anything about smacking metal to make better metal as he glanced back at Aleph and his sword.

"That from here too?"

"It is actually!" Reaching back to likely take it out dramatically before instead he just patted the pommel over his shoulder. "Well I had one before but it wasn't really super good. But Kuro helped me make a proper one once we got set up here! And its served me very well." Winking at the Gazimon. "Maybe you'll get one too!"

Levin just shrugging as he pulled his hands out of his pouch and clicked his claws together. Making a few sparks jump between them. "Dunno how well I could hold something like that with these. And waving a sword around doesn't seem like a good way to show Humans I'm friendly and here to uhhh..." Tilting his head a bit as he tried to remember. "Be a Digi buddy." Silly fluff had a point there! But Aleph just struck a heroic pose in the grass!

"Your actions will prove your intentions more than what you look like Levin! Not to worry your fluffy helpful self will be a great buddy." Unfortunately Levin would frown at that as he kicked at a grass tuft near him.

"My actions were not good." Aleph opening his mouth before the bun continued. "But here I can try to do better." Yay! Already thinking ahead! And Levin would even look back up with a bit of a smile. Thats a bit of improvement!

But those weeds weren't going to pull themselves out of the ground while the two were talking about history and the future. So they would give a last wave to the two smiths and head to the far side of the courtyard toward the main gate to the outside! But they would look over at a grumbly snuffle noise from a little tree grove. Curiosity getting the better of both Digi as they wriggled over to peak their heads through. And it was unfortunate that both would aww at the scene and draw attention to themselves.

Monzaemon was currently sat on a nice comfy blanket with a half eaten roll in one of his big mitts. And at the aww he would look sleepily over at the two Digi faces and smile good and big! The free arm reaching out and swiftly snatching the two whos awws turned to epps as both were squished into that soft teddy tummy! "Hugs for guests! A mini lovely attack!" Both Aleph and Levin squirming their feet and tails as they were smooshed in the one armed hug from the big Teddy before they were both plopped down on the blanket. Eyes rolling from the squish as they swayed on their new seats trying to recover. Before a fresh roll was plopped into their hands from the basket in the middle of the blanket. The two now looking just like the plushies, toy soldiers, and trains that also circled the picnic basket. They were apparently invited to the toy picnic now! The big bear going back to happily sitting there as he chomped the remainder of his roll. "Welcome to the second toy lunch of the day! Eat!" Before another roll was already in his hand and rising toward that mouth, getting a light toasting from his laser eyes, and then another chomp.

Aleph and Levin hurfing as their chests and backs started to expand back into their normal shapes and the world came back into focus. Seemingly realizing what they were involved with now as they picked up their own bread roll. It would be rude to leave after all so they started to chew on them as well. It was very nice bread. But before they could even get halfway through the food they would look over at a snore. To see that Monzaemon was sleeping sat up with his head slightly forward. A bubble slowing expanding and shrinking from his mouth. Seems the comfy seat, second lunch, and warm sun meant this was the perfect time for a nap! The two smaller Digis finishing their bread roll before carefully getting up and backing off the big picnic blanket. Levin taking the time to sit a bunny plush back upright that fell over as they retreated. But they did have a job to do. And eating much more would lead to them likely falling asleep too!

And after carefully squirming through the bushes to not wake the snuggly bear the two would return to their quest to finally exit the main gate of the castle. Gota get the chore out of the way eventually.

Thankfully the small shed that housed the tools and chemicals to deal with the grounds was right outside the gate and the two worked together to lift up the wheel barrow and pull it backwards out of the shed before turning and pushing. Thankfully it wasn't far too go as the two huffed a bit pushing the Human sized wheel barrow along.

"Could have gotten a smaller one," Levin would complain as they both had to reach up to hold the back prongs off the ground to allow it to move. But before Aleph could explain the reasoning the Gazi would add. "But then again at least its all in here. Not having to go back and fourth a bunch."

"Right you are!" Aleph giving one of those wing ears a pat. "Got a smart noggin on that head of yours." Levin giving a little smile back as he reached up to take hold of the edge of the barrow. Pulling on it as a test before he clambered up to more easily see inside before taking out a trowel and handing it down to Aleph before he carefully extracted the wheel section of a push-reel lawn mower and handed it down to Aleph. Thankfully no dropping before the handle was pulled out as well. Still a lot of stuff in the barrow like fertilizer, weed killer, and tools but these would do for now as the zap bun hopped down and nodded at his working buddy.

"I try, you want to start on the weeds and I'll push?" Aleph nodding back as he held the wheels steady for Levin to clip in the bars into it before he tilted the entire thing over so his short frame could more easily grab the handles. Sure it wasn't meant to be used like this with its little support bar facing the sky but at least he could hold it like this. And turning and holding it behind him the Gazi started to walk. The whirring spinning of the blades getting quieter as Aleph moved over to the dirt and started to dig up some of the more obvious weeds.

He would look over when Levin came back around and smile. "You seem to be doing it straight, did you watch Humans do this before?"

"Yes a few times, but they were the annoying loud ones," Levins voice fading away as he moved past before he turned and headed back. "That smelt terrible. Only one old lady used one like this. Much better." More fade out fade in. "She was nice, gave me some oats I think it was? Decent stuff."

"Yeah thats one thing about the Humans world." Waiting for his yard buddy to come back. "That I still struggle to get used to. Its so loud almost all the time."

"Agree with you there." Levin replied as Aleph started to make a pile of the weeds he had dug up from the ground. Maybe they could do something with these? Even if they didn't eat them here maybe some Numemon or something would eat them? "So many cars and engines just everywhere. Even in their tunnels." Better than just throwing them away. The Pally would just need to make sure that he kept an eye on them to see what the others thought. "Even more noisy if you are inside one of their trucks."

"When did you do that?" Aleph asked with a little oooh face. Had Levin gone on a grand adventure before Neko and himself were told to bring him back?

"It wasn't by choice. I must have stolen from the wrong Human who didn't want to just give it up." Back and fourth again - with Aleph stopping his work as he was worried now. "Was stuffed into one of those shiny black bags and tossed into a big truck. Very loud and stinky." A shrug from Levin. "Woke up back at my little base where uhhh...you and Neko found me."

"Thats a garbage truck." Another voice would pipe up. And both yard workers would look over to see a hooooman walking over! With a Gammamon at their side though a little ahead of them. Clearly being the one leading. Zoom offering a little peace sign despite his frown. "Glad you got out of there Levin."

"Pfft, trash." Yes Arc very observant! Levin sticking his tongue out at the Gamma as he returned back to the mowing. He was making pretty decent progress as Aleph smiled at the two new arrivals and waved with his trowel! Making Arc glare at the 'weapon' the blue fluff was holding and moving up a hand to be ready should he strike! Before Aleph thankfully lowered it down. So instead the Gamma would head over to the wheelbarrow.

"I am too. Levin is much better off here. With no need to steal and having to fight for keeping going day to day!"

"Fighting is good though, builds strenght and character," yet again some real pearls of wisdom from Arc as he placed both his hands on the wheel barrow and pushed upwards! Tilting the entire thing almost over before setting it back down again. Seemingly just to show off that he could. Well whatever made him happy Aleph mused as he looked back at Zoom and patted his leg.

"Glad to see you two are working better today."

"We are."

"We are? Pfft. At least you said that with more emphasis than you did before Zoom. Thats some improvement." Well it was a start at least as Zoom shrugged.

"We are going to check on one of the walls to make sure the repairs are still holding. You two keep doing a good job here." Zoom nodded as he reached down to boop that Aleph nose! Making the little bluey epp and hold it before the Human smiled and walked off. Arc following after and growling at Levin as he passed him. But the Gazimon just stuck out his tongue again before being back with Aleph.

"Hope I was never as tiring as him."

"Not at all Levin! You a good goon and you'll keep being better here. We'll keep improving as a team!" Side hugging Levin would return the gesture with one arm with a half smile. His other arm still holding the mower as the bun would fold one foot over the other before he cleared his throat.

"R...right. Think the mowing was good?" Aleph looking over and nodding as the two worked to unclip the handle from the mower before they lifted it up to slid it into the barrel. Before there was a scfft of dirt. Both of them widening their eyes as the barrow, unbalanced from Arc, tilted away from them before toppling over right onto both of them! Their squeaks and epps of surprise barely heard over the tumbling of tools as both were squashed flat into the grass from the barrow flopping down over then. Aleph slightly over Levin as in the brief moment before impact he had tried to cover his new buddy but in the end both got flattened.

Though at least as they both lay there under the side of the wheel barrow with spinning eyes and tweeting birds around their head Aleph would get another little view into Levins past. Though it wasn't a nice continuous show like a movie. More like a rapid short compilation at 1.5x speed. Like one of those silly online videos the human kids just loved to watch. Likely caused by the squishing. But the sand was back. Augamon too as he evolved into Greymon. Gazi hands waving as he tried to avoid the fire. Before flying through the air. Etemon taking the field and throwing Dark Spirits all over as the Gazimon and other Digimon were thrown aside by the Boss so he could get at the children. The Network collapsing. Etemon back inside the mass. Before the complete collapse. The vortex sucking in so many. Gazi hands reaching out around the wires he had grabbed onto. Before blackness. Then sand. Empty sand. Alone. Hungry and without purpose. Alone.

"You two alright?!" A familiar voice piping up as Aleph blinked a few times to clear that video out of his mind and looking around as much as he could to see two blue hands grabbing onto the wheel barrow. Two different shades of blue. Working together as the two Veemon heaved the barrow off the two pinned under it before starting to help get both back up. Kaida helping Levin as Stry worked on peeling Aleph off of Levin. The two coming apart with a pop as the two Veemon gave their chosen targets a good shake to try and get them back to normal. No go so far but at least their heads started to clear as they were held mostly upright as the Vees tilted their flat Freelancer posters to better look at them. "You two ok? Some words would be calming right about now."

"Maaaf," well said Aleph.

"Ow." And Levin adding in the crucial context there. Both Vees letting out a breath before all four were scooped up in big warm yellow arms! How had Monzaemon snuck up on them all like that!

"Hello friends! You are all just in time for lunch three!" The big bear turning and tromping off back into the castle as Stry hugged Aleph and worked on getting unsquished and Kaida just shook Levin over the side of Monzaemaons arm. And they had at least gotten them not completely flat as they were plopped down on the blanket. Some toys now inside the big picnic basket to make room as apples and cheese were soon lightly laser toasted and put in their arms.

The nomming beginning though Aleph seemed distracted. Levin didn't seem to have felt the little montage that Aleph saw and he eventually looked over after pulling on his own nose to pop it back to its normal shape. "Levin?"

"Mmmgnmp?"

"Did you ever hear back from your old co-workers?" A headshake. "Would you like to go to the Village of Beginnings at some point? Im sure they would be happy to see you if they are still there." Levin taking a slower bite as he looked at the comfy blanket they were all sat on. Looking at it for awhile as everyone turned to watch him.

"Maybe." Before he was lightly punched in the arm by Kaida, that almost sent him flipping over sideways, before Stry helped to steady him.

"It will be a good trip! And maybe help you think about what happened better!" Aleph glad he had a plan now as the group returned to third lunch. Though Levin was still eating slowly as he thought about what Aleph wanted to do. Sure it made a good amount of sense but...would it be good?

Well if he went with other Freelancers it wouldn't be terrible right? But such were concerns for another day as once their food was complete the four were soon flumped in a pile on Monzaemons big soft squishy tummy. Snoozing away in the afternoon sun.
