Description I'm having a hard time with titles now.

This BNSF double-stack roars through CP Craig on the transcon in Lenexa, KS, en route to Argentine yard. On the point is BNSF ES44DC #7612.

I do too! This is all old ATSF territory, and the whole place is chock full of search light signals and cantilever signal bridges.

This was a big train. I don't get details over the scanner, nor do I have a data slicer for ATCS data, but this consist was probably around a mile long (or more) and around 8,500 gross tons.

The average unit coal train over here averages anywhere from 5,700 to 7,700 tons of coal (105 cars to 140 cars at 55 tons each).

Wow , thats completely opposite to the Nuclear Fuels train we have here in the UK can be 2-4 locos pulling 1-5 wagons runs most days of the week, course its a very very important train and needs back up locos

True, but these units each are 4400 horsepower, and have ridiculous amounts of tractive effort, since they're all controlled by computers now to reduce wheel slip and whatnot.

It's the same spot off of Woodland Drive that we first went to. I just went on the other side of the tracks (trespassing, yes) so I didn't have that damn fence in the way.

BNSF is pretty cool about walking on their property so long as you don't foul the tracks, and you clearly weren't fouling the tracks. I could tell you were closer to the control point than we were during our joint fantrip.

Actually, I wasn't that much closer to be honest. I took this shot at full zoom, and it's a bit misleading. I was right at about where the walking path runs underneath the RoW, and actually a couple paces back from that even. Those retaining fences tend to get in the way (like in this shot --> [link] ).

I am forever grateful that you showed me the spots you did. They're allowing me to branch out and find newer ones relative to where they're at (I've since been trying to get better shots east of CP Holliday closer to the actual yard throat for instance), though I still haven't done much on the Missouri side of things (yet). I have plans to hit up Santa Fe Junction and some stuff near Armourdale, that is if I can get in and around the area without getting mugged and/or shot.

I don't envy you there. Although the action here is great and constant, it's hard to find decent backgrounds. The station throat in Heidelberg is too bloody busy with hotels, bridges, and quonset huts...

As long as the pictures are great, the titles don't really matter, and I don't see any problems in that regard with your work.

Yeah it was. It wasn't the greatest lighting, and I hadn't realized that until I took the shots. Usually I don't do stuff so late or early in the day.

Morning or evening light -- especially morning, I've found -- can really enrich a photo if used right. But you're right, it doesn't count as being the greatest lighting!
