Description A Kansas sunset graces the cloudy sky over a freshly cut wheat field, with hints of commercial debauchery in the distance.

I have since re-edited this one, and I like it much better already. It allows for a bigger print too.

I guess I'm just SO fed up with Hays that I just can't see any beauty in it. I NEVER take shots here in town like that and I live fairly close to where that must have been taken. I seem to always look up and think "I wish I was somewhere better to take a picture because town is so ugly." However, that said, I guess I should go ahead and swallow my prejudice and try some shots because that is a great one that you got!!!

You know, I always tend to think the same way. I guess I got lucky in this case since most of the horizon was under heavy contrast from the sun's angle. I had to do some noise reduction in this since the camera I was using at the time (check the EXIF data) was not the greatest in imaging quality. At least not compared to my 30D.

But I guess now most of my "in town" shots are rail related, so it's easier to blend some of that in. As far as in town stuff goes beyond that, it's mostly architecture and odd angles.

Hey... I just remembered.... Zoran needs people to take his workshop this summer, would you be interested? I want to, but don't have a sitter or the money to take the class... seeing as how my husband is in school right now. Bryan took one last year and had a LOT of fun. They went out to Monument Rocks for a field trip.

Eh, too late, they canceled the summer classes for photography already. The only ones in the art department that got summer classes were graphics and interior design. Damned budget constraints!

Thanks! As stated, this is a resubmission of a much earlier one. I did it because I had a request for a larger print, so I used that as an excuse to go back and make it bigger.

hehe, it's goregous. The combination of the sun rays with the amazing clouds and the beautiful colors of sunset is amazing, and the "commercial debauchery" makes it unique. I think I'd like to visit Kansas because I love the sky and it appears that it is a very prominent feature of where you live

well, since we have no trees in this part of the state (not many anyways), we have more sky to admire.

As far as for the fireworks pictures, you just kind of have to know how your camera works in order to get what you want. I'm sure yours could probably pull something like that off. Mind you, I had to shut off the flash, and I had to basically learn how to time the auto-focus in with the fireworks themselves and then work from there. I also had to make some adjustments to the camera settings as far as things like EV Compensation, White Balance, and things like that. Trial and Error was about 50% of that whole series. The rest I was able to do the same thing for each time once I figured it out.

Experimentation is the best thing you can ever do really. And you can always take ideas from others and adapt them to your own styles and all. So yeah, just go out and do your own thing, and learn from it. That's what I do.
