Description
This is a sister to this shot. But without the big story behind it.A Union Pacific empty grain shuttle, led by three SD9043MACs and a single AC4400CW (hence the title), moves south down the Central Rail Corridor in downtown Wichita, Kansas, on a slow order due to men and equipment on or near the Right-of-Way.
Units are (UP) SD9043MAC #8207, AC4400CW #7263, SD9043MAC #8619, and SD9043MAC #8655.

Heh I wonder if this is a Houston origin grain shuttle
UP does operate a Houston to Wichita Kansas grain shuttle via Navasota Sub. I wonder if this was one of those trains

It's possible. This UP sub runs down through Enid, OK to points south, and this one was definitely southbound.

Looks more like the LA Basin. What's happening to the scenic midwest???

This is in the middle of downtown Wichita, so there's nothing "scenic" about it.

That's weird. I only thought of LA as being full of concrete and smog!

You should see the I-70/I-670I-29/I-35 corridors in the downtown area. It's all right next to the Missouri River, and there's a shit-ton of minor roads interfacing with the interstate highways, so it's one big highway clusterfuck. In fact, I-670 runs literally right under Bartle Convention Hall in downtown KCMO, so that's one big concrete jungle in and of itself.
Wichita also has some of that, especially with I-35/I-135 and the "Canal Route". I'll have to see about getting some pics of that sometime soon.
I've never thought about doing it, but highway structures like those just fascinate me beyond comprehension. Maybe I should take that up as a new niche "nerd" hobby.
