Description
UP and BNSF in northeast Kansas have a "love-hate relationship", if you will. On the north side of the Kansas River, the UP Marysville sub runs from Armourdale Yard in KCK, all the way to just west of Topeka before splitting off with the Herington sub and jogging north towards Marysville. On the south side of the river, the BNSF Topeka sub runs from CP Holliday near the yard throat at Argentine, and then runs west through Topeka before turning south to rejoin the Emporia sub at Emporia (notice a pattern here?).The UP double main on the north side easily sees 5 times more traffic than the BNSF single-main on the south, though I can honestly say the BNSF traffic often is more interesting (including AmTrak's Southwest Chief).
Here, a Union Pacific PRB coal drag roars down the left-hand main north of Lawrence, KS with UP C6044AC (AC6000CW) #7337 on the point.

Very fine black and white as she fades back into the distance.
