Description
After watching the appendices of Battle of Five Armies EE, I realized who the true culprit behind the no Kiliel kiss was. And I am sorry to inform that Legolas was used as a means to an end in order to fill in the gaps that Evangeline's refusal left. And PJ, this is one of those moments I wished you were not so pleasing to the actors. I apologize to the Legolas fans for my misplaced anger. Now it is on the right track. You can watch it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNqs-v…
As for the word "yambags", it's in the EE at one of the battle scenes. Dwalin and Kili pronounce it as "jambags", but then Phillipa Boyens corrects them in the appendices of BOTFA EE. Here is the definition in benefit of all, which is a new word for my English vocabulary: ru.urbandictionary.com/define.…
I regret nothing!

Stupid elf. who in their right mind wouldn't kiss Kili, come on. I'd have kissed him the first time they met in the dungeons of Mirkwood. Also the yambags comment was priceless.

I too was quite upset at Lily over the omission. Anyway at least there was a kiss, sort of. Sometimes we don't even get that for our otps

Well, kiss to a corpse really does not count. Especially when he died without knowing if she corresponded the feeling. He cannot feel that kiss, so it's like wasted. But I understand what you mean.

A big part of me agrees with Evangeline, but the fangirl part of me was majorly pissed off. Couldn't they add at least a kiss on the cheek or SOMETHING in that scene?

It could be maybe too soon for Tauriel to kiss Kili. But he is impulsive. He could have stolen that kiss from her regardless. My inner fan girl would have been VERY pleased.

My thoughts exactly. Kili was already admitting his feelings there,I'm sure he would have been brave enough to steal a kiss

And this is Meraell's reaction to the whole thing:
Meraell: "Are you kidding me?! You should have kissed him, Tauriel! You should have kissed him right there! Why did you refuse??"
Tauriel: "It was too soon."
Meraell: "Too soon?? I went through so much trouble trying to get Kili to kiss you and I even called Legolas stupid!"
Me: "Meraell, babe. Remember the extended scene I'm writing? There was another reason why you called Legolas stupid."
Meraell: "That's true. But still, she should have kissed him!"
Me: "Unfortunately you don't have a say in this since you're my character and not part of the series."
Meraell: "SHE'S NOT PART OF THE SERIES EITHER AND SHE STILL HAD A SAY IN IT! THEY LISTENED TO HER! YOU SHOULD HAVE LET THEM KISS!"
Me: "Babe, relax. Eat a snickers. My story won't end the same way. I have something special planned for them later."
Meraell: *begrudgingly takes the snickers* "Alright, fine. It better be good, though.

And I'd love to share that majestic, blue eyed hunk of dwarf with you. However, I think I'll just stick with our golden lion prince instead, because he hardly got any love in BOTFA and he most certainly deserves it!

True too. And being the throne prince, he should have had more spotlight than Kili, even though I adore Kili to pieces, I am also fair enough.

This makes me all the happier about plotting going on on my RP. Kíli's adopted sister and her Easterling guardian are plotting to send Tauriel to Himring. Maybe she would find someone immortal who she'd get on with better than a dwarf who already knows who his soulmate is (and it's not her).
But RP aside, the idea that it's more her fault that Kíli never got a kiss means she deserves to hurt that bit worse.

In all honesty, it made Tauriel look stupid for a 600 year old. Like she had zero knowledge of how feelings work, while Kili knew way too much for someone that has not lived half as much. I didn't like the way it was handled. Heck, even Arwen has far more sense of feelings.

Mimi-Sardinia In reply to Faerietopia [2015-12-01 09:38:11 +0000 UTC]
I always got the impression that for an Elf, 600 is naive as hell, especially in a very protected community, and frankly in the latter Third Age, all the Elven enclaves are very protected because they need to be. Arwen in comparison is a lot older, at well over 2000 years, running up close to 3000. Even then she had a rough time after Aragorn's death.
Book canon also gave me an impression that the reason why immortal/mortal relationships very rarely work because the mortal will die and Elves don't really comprehend death properly, so it hurts them worse than mortals, who have coping methods.
At least given that impression, I can understand why the whole "Why does it hurt so much?" was there, but I felt it was not well-done. I might have accepted Kíli/Tauriel a bit more if it had not been so ineptly handled.

Oh yes! That character was totally disgusting. I think that was the idea, so people would rejoice his death. Alfrid was another character that should have died far earlier. I would have allowed the lakesmen to lynch him. THAT would have been awesome! I hated his breasts of gold.
But I can always count my lucky stars that Thorin did an outstanding performance; I'm still in cloud 9 about him... *swoons*

Alfrid could've drowned at the end of the second movie and I wouldn't have cared! But I suppose that's the thing about Bard. No matter how detestable a person is, he's too noble to just let them be mobbed.
Oh yes, Thorin! Don't even get me started on that! He's been the affixation of my teenage years and is the reason I find guys in my own age group disgusting. (So call me weird.) And Bilbo! Bilbo was so amazing and perfect and huggable!

Bilbo's crying scenes made me cry far more than Tauriel's wailing. She disgusted me on that last movie. I loved her until then. And there is this particular scene of Bilbo, when the bodies of the Durins are exposed on the funeral honors, in which he is standing beside Thorin. The expressions he makes before finally breaking down into tears were priceless. Man, I wanted to hug him so badly and he made me cry the hardest because he projected EXACTLY how I felt about Thorin.
Speaking of his hotness Majesty, did you get to read my fan fiction A Willing Heart - Thorin x reader? It starts here: faerietopia.deviantart.com/art…
A Willing Heart is the sequel to the X Reader segments that you will find here: faerietopia.deviantart.com/art… They all connect to one another and show a progressive relationship between reader and Thorin in a tasteful way.
I also made a different story that expands his heritage with an illegitimate son that is a living portrait of him, only taller. Here it is in case you interest it: faerietopia.deviantart.com/art… and I am in the process of writing the sequel to that one.

"jambags" was the way Graham Mc Tavish (Dwalin) pronounced it on the scene. But then Philippa Boyens corrected him on the appendices and even showed the way it is written. You can see it here: ru.urbandictionary.com/define.…

Interesting... I've never heard that word before this. It irks me that they didn't get it right in the film, and spelled it with a "j" in the movie subtitles. Perhaps that's why the scene was deleted? X3

Well, I'm bothered about his excessive showoff in a movie that was NOT about him and his daddy issues. And his Matrix stone skipping... OMG that was terrible. But I craved that kiss between Kili and Tauriel and I was denied it. Now, after almost a year of blaming Legolas, I learn it was Tauriel who refused, and they were forced to modify the scene last minute.

How about you watch up to Ravenhill begining, and then stop it there? That way, you do not have to see their deaths.
