Finally, I get really close to a Red Saddlebag! I've wanted to for a long time. These dragonflies have amazing red patterns and interesting dark red faces. Supposedly they usually fly in swarms but the ones here are pretty solitary.Related content

I was lucky! Saddlebags are rather nervous dragonflies and this one let me very close. Haven't gotten that near another one since. Thank you!

Wow, just look at those colours! And the back wings have a rather unusual shape - at least when compared to the dragonflies we get around here.

Red Saddlebags are really cool looking--they even fly differently, probably because of the wing shape. They also tend to fly in big swarms of 10-12 dragonflies. Thanks, also!
