Description Pen and ink. 13.5" x 18" (34 cm x 43 cm). About 40 hours work.

This is my entry into the "Dragon's Domain" contest at *DocRedfield 's *monstersandmaidens group. I haven't drawn a dragon for a while, and I was hoping for an image of one to pop into my head, although, as usual, it was the girl who popped in there first. Astute observers of my work will recognize the look on the girl's face--"Hyde's Bride" wears it [link] , as does the chick on "Digital Doodling 1" [link] , along with the awakening aerobicizer in "The Mouse Trap" [link] , and they're joined by lots of damsels throughout my gallery. For that matter, you don't have to be very "astute" to notice the trend...

Regardless, there are some great entries in that contest, so if you haven't seen them, I'd encourage you to check them out.

Next up is the follow-up to "The Mouse Trap."

Enjoy!

Ah Im taking it at its face value...I believe the origin is ancient somalian for "He-who-draws-awesomely"...Im not 100% on that translation, I must consult my necronomicon further

Yes, that sounds applicable.

I missed the deadline, phoo! Oh well, maybe my entry can be a dragon-themed Valentine's day tribute.

The perspective on the dragon really make this picture great, as well as the design you chose for it. I love how the scales are arranged on him! The girl, of course, is a stunning example of her gender, and has good taste in fashion, as well.

Maybe I should have the dragon clutching a heart-shaped box of chocolates in its visible claw... "Now close your eyes, Oh Lover Mine! I've got your surprise-sweet-valentine!" Of course, the look on her face would remain unchanged, a reaction to the dragon's horrific poetry...

Thanks for the compliments!

Errr....I take it Mr Dragon doesnt wanna play scrabble T_T Poor Annie (ive named her Annie, i think it fits XD) Fantastic stuff as per usual mr inappropriately named Faile

Thanks! I love little insights like this one--"Annie" works for me, although I have a hard time thinking someone so-named would wear a bikini like that one (at least, not by her own choice, but perhaps if she were forced to wear it... ). Actually, if you know the origins of the name "Faile," it fits me very, very well...

Thanks, Scott. I got the dragon mostly done in the booth, but the ground took me a lot of time. As usual, the girl took the least amount of time and came last... I'm glad you like her hair.

Thanks! I hope your week is turning out well, too.

Thank you! In the end, I was worried that there would be too many details with high contrast that would pull the eye away from the girl and her expression. Your comment suggests otherwise, and I appreciate that.
