Subject: Kumquat. With a velociraptor. Named Moki.
Experiment: ..............drawing a kumquat? Really, this one was just for fun. Sadly I don't actually have the oomph to experiment these days. *overtired*
Time: 1 hr
Comments: This wasn't originally supposed to be a speedie. A few days ago I felt like I needed a quick break from layout, so I asked what I should draw. She said a 'kumquat' and me, not particularly knowing what the hell a kumquat is or looked like, looked it up on good ol' wikipedia. As I had theorised, kumquats are fruit, among the citrus catagory. (BTW; they sound kind of disgusting, but maybe they're good?)

So, I've been drawing a LOT of velociraptors lately, for the past three weeks or so. (There's seriously like 20 drawings of them in my sketch book right now, all of this guy here. It may or may not be a tad obsessive, but right now I'm feeling a little sick of humans and quadrupeds, so raptors make me happy for now. I REALLY want to animate my little adolescent male Moki. He's so cute in my head and energetic. )

Anyway, probably screwed up some smaller aspects of his anatomy, but I don't particularly care seeing as I'm pretty sure that Moki isn't an actual velociraptor but another species unknown to the fossil record - it's highly plausible. There's likely to be thousands of dinosaurs which we haven't ever heard of and will never, which once walked this earth.

In any case, I do my best to base Moki's kind off of velociraptor, my favourite species. In Moki's species, the males either have blue or red feather crests. Moki's still developing his and since he's immature, he won't be all bold and pretty like his father & uncle for a long while. (This is like a certain species of bird I once heard of, which I forget the name for.) The females of Moki's kind would be decidedly drab, without the colourful feathering on their heads.

Hopefully, I'll be able to post some of the sketches I've done of this fella soon.

Right now I'm trying to get up the oomph to draw some more. I really, really want to finish my layout, but at the same time, I've sort of ran out of gas. My lower back hurts, one of my knees aches something awful (don't know WHY) and my wrist is kinda twingy, but I'm determined to draw some more I think. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy Moki! There probably will not be a speedie from now until the friday after December 18th, because of final projects, but I'll see what I can do about posting some of my better sketches as a compromise. Also, sometime (hopefully this weekend or next week) I'll be finishing up 's commission in my small smidgeons of break time, so hopefully you can expect to see that.

My new roommate moves in with me tomorrow, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get much work done. She's a 1st year animation student here at Capilano, so hopefully we'll get along just fine. (If you don't already know, I'm a senior 2nd year student.)
