I rewatched Code Geass (definitely my favourite anime) and thought I'd do some fanart for it, since I never have before When I've seen it before, Lelouch've always been my favourite, but even though I still love him, this time I was really struck by how wonderful a character Suzaku is. I mean, he comes of as a regular honour-before-reason ace pilot hero in the beginning, but there's so much more to him. And his characther isn't made less interesting by the fact that he's an anti-villain working for The Evil Empire, Britannia. It also fascinated me to see the profound changes in him R2, caused by the death of you-know-who at the end of the first season. So this drawing came about 'cuz I wanted to draw two things; Suzaku as Knight of Seven, and the Gawain, by far my favourite knightmare frame. So even though it's a bit chronologically wrong (the piece is set during R2, so the Shinkirou would techincally be Lelouch's knightmare at the time) I couldn't NOT include the Gawain, a piece of machinery that's simply MADE of awesome

I've been working on this for what feels like an eternity now, so I'm quite tired of it, to be honest. I spent two days on the sketch alone. Then I had to do the inking twice 'cuz I screwed up the eyes the first time (Note to self; always do the eyes FIRST when inking), and then it took me a week to colour. I started last monday, worked on it every evening after school, and should've probably worked on it some more (not happy with the BG, should've added more hightlights etc.) But I really, REALLY feel like moving on to something new now, so it'll have to do like this Also, random title. Since I couldn't come up with anything better than cheesy stuff like "Dark vs. Light" and the like (so wrong, anyway), I just tacked on the name of a song by my favourite band, Sonata Arctica.
