well that took it's time did it not?But, with no further ado here's the new issue of "Twists and Turns"
We are just taking a first step into the backstory of Discord.

I'm more then certain this head cannon will be debunked by season 4. The theory just doesn't stand to reason.(HA Discord making sense, yeah right) I have nothing against this head-cannon I'm just very sure it's not true.

Headcanon accepted. I don't care what anyone else says, even if Hasbro ultimately retcons that theory, I am always gonna believe that Discord was at one time Starswirl the Bearded.
I believe in this with the same passion that I truly believe Spike is not just Celestia's adopted son and a secret Prince of Royalty, but that thanks to a bit of a wild fun night, Celestia is the biological mother of Spike and laid his egg, and it waited an insanely long time for a pony with enormous magical potential (Twilight Sparkle, duh!!) to be able to hatch a dragon egg w/o draconic assistance (or flames for that matter). That would kinda also explain why Princess Celestia took Twilight as her personal protege and made Spike as Twilight's "assistant"--to keep tabs on her son and a future Princess of Eqeustria.

for the first part: yeah it's headcanon and for me it will stay that way anyway ^^
for the second: seems quite a mess...
i think spike was just an egg that had lost it's parents due to some fight or accident, celestia took it and waited as you said for
twilight sparkle, and gave him to her to make her more responsible of her actions and to help in her studies...and life (so many hers)
also,horses don't lay egg...but still these are horses that talks, fly and use magic so i don't know where logic come into place XD
but still that's what he is to me...i respect your headcanon and i think it's kinda interesting
