Description "You've been a part of me for so long, I can't remember anything else." -Ripley, Alien 3

I see a lot of similarities between Alien series and Metroid series. Strong female lead, fearsome, speechless alien menace. Sparse dialoague. Quality sci-fi. Well, sometimes.

Pencil sketch and ~20 to 30 hrs in photoshop CS5. I could spend even more time on it, but it would be polishing a turd at this point.

I wanted to upload something I was actually satisfied with. Still not quite sure I succeeded.

I would disagree with your comment that you think this piece is of poor quality. Compared to some of the other Metroid "art" that infests DA (particularly since the introduction of the pretty blond haired, big titted zero suit Samus Aran design), I think this one is among the more original pieces that I've come across. A more pensive and reserved Samus consumed in thought over what I can only assume to be the Metroid hatching, and what her continued connection to the Metroids are. Your comparisons to Alien have merit as well: the no-nonsense female protagonist, a haunting and deadly alien threat, feelings of loneliness and isolation; These are hallmarks of the franchise.

Remember we're our own worst critics. Frankly, I think this is quite a good piece. If you did give it a bit more polish, I'd love to snatch it up as a print.

Samus looks too much like Korra, there's an ugly grey background, and it looks like her ponytail is ridiculously huge as well. Overall, it's very average and plain looking. The very worst part about this though is that

I love to play videogames, Metroid it's one of those that have been out there for such a long time and have so many fans that you can't go wrong playing one. On the other hadn, to find art related to it that doesn't just present the sexy lady on tight outfit and it's fair to her it's hard. I love the way that you have used the color, and even more how you work around the fact that even if she is alone she is strong with her best friend. Besides that, this is original, it's a nice change on the usual art that I've seen for this game. Congratulations, you have done a great work capturing the feeling of lonliness yet strenght in this paint. Fitting, since Metroid was at least somewhat inspired by the first Alien movie (to the point that one of the game's villains is named after the movie's director, Ridley Scott, and in its first incarnation somewhat resembled the distinctive long-headed xenomorph of the film).

I really like the visual you've created here, and the way it's sometimes hard to tell where one of them ends and the other begins. It speaks volumes of the metaphors of their relationship to one another.
