Backstory:

Sprout was originally born a zony from a zebra father and unicorn mother. He always felt a connection with nature, especially towards the everfree forest, where the animals and plants have the capacity to exist on their own without pony interference. Because of his fascination with the everfree, as well as his father being a zebra, many ponies thought Sprout was incredibly strange. Often, Sprout found himself without any other ponies to spend time with, instead, mainly spending his time with the animals or the everfree.

Then, one day, Sprout came across a timberwolf pup, lost, alone, and injured near his home. Sprout took it upon himself to take in the pup and nurse it back to health. However, a few days after doing so, when the pup was finally healed, he heard a commotion going on in the nearby town. He went to investigate, only to find the ponies being attacked by a pack of timber wolves. Sprout realized very quickly that these timberwolves were the same ones that the pup belonged to, but before he could do anything, the ponies began fighting back. Some ponies even donned torches and attempted to light them on fire.

Sprout ended up having to use his magic to snuff out the ponies' torches, which resulted in the crowd immediately turning on him. Sprout didn't care about whether his reputation would be ruined by allegedly 'betraying' the town, though. Instead, he gave the now fully-healed pup back to its parents, who took it and left without another incident.

Sprout was yet again chastised by the townsfolk, who assumed in their hubris that he had stolen the timber pup and purposefully tried to get the village destroyed by the pack of timberwolves. But then, as the ponies were about to arrest him, who should suddenly appear from the sky in a ball of light but Celestia and Luna themselves.

Luna was now the one ridiculing, as she shamed the townsfolk for turning on their fellow pony so willingly after he so kindly helped them, especially after helping them when they've been so cruel to him in the past. Celestia meanwhile, admired Sprout's kindness, not just towards the ponies, but also the timberwolves. The fact he was so ready to be ridiculed by the town for snuffing out their fires just so the timberwolves wouldn't be harmed. Celestia decided to use her magic to elevate Sprout into demi-god status, transforming him into an alicorn.

Sprout became one of the first to join with Celestia and Luna in a roundtable of alicorns, and all was at peace for a time. Sprout used his magic to help ponies cultivate their land, live in harmony with nature, and aid animals and creatures whenever they needed it. However, then one of the other alicorns, Heartburn, the alicorn of fire, became corrupted. Sprout was the first to try to reason with them, but Heartburn responded by using their magic to banish sprout by sealing him into a massive tree. This tree, after the conflict, was moved by Celestia and Luna to Canterlot, near the palace. That way, they'd always have their nature-loving friend nearby, as well as, in the hope that one day they'd have the means to set him free.

Extra:
- Being a zony, Sprout is infertile and completely incapable of having children.
- That timberwolf pup often returned to spend time with Sprout after being returned. Nowadays, that timberpup is fully-grown with its own pups and now brings them to spend time under the tree in Canterlot. Celestia allows this and has given special instruction to the guard to protect the timberwolves and not harm them while they visit.
- Celestia also ordered the guards to guard the tree just as meticulously as they would another alicorn royal, for obvious reasons.
