I personally do not think Walter White (Heisenberg) is really that evil character. In fact, even late in the series, he still conserves a lot of his morality. He doesn't kill any innocent person, only ones who are a serious threat to him and these are mostly really bad guys.
If we look more closely, there are many a lot more evil characters in BB than Heisenberg. It's just this difference between the way he used to be before that is really striking. I bet that if he was as bad as kartel members from the very beginning, nobody would give a damn about him.
