Description
Request from my dad, he asked me if I had drawn Smaug for him, I don't think I did. So he told me what he wanted, and I drew it.He told me that it would be cool if I illustrated the Lord of the Rings (he loves LotR) he was like "not like a graphic novel, but different scenes." he also said If I drew LotR's pictures he could frame them and hang them in his library above the Lord of the Rings action figures and book sets and then he could say "my daughter drew that" then he said "that would be awesome!"
Course LOTR is three books long and the books themselves are pretty largish, so there would be a lot of scenes.
The only problem.. I think.. With this picture is Smaug doesn't stick out.
I don't know how to fix that on my iPad, so I'll try to fix it when I get to my computer.

Oh, I didn't think of that, good idea. Does your family like the stuff you draw? Because my mom wants me to draw birds, I don't like drawing birds. My dad likes LOTR so he thinks it's cool when I draw dragons (sometimes).

Yw ^^
Uhm.... some of it. My mom likes animals too and landscapes (don't do too many of those anymore :/) My brother likes the graffitti and logos i do like the one i did for him recently.. My nephew is always bragging about them to his friends (don't see why xD) No one else really tho
... Just hit me how long of an answer that was lol

My mom is in love with roosters. I don't find landscapes fun to draw... They are not my thing I guess, which is why I don't do complicated backgrounds, if I do them at all. You do graffiti? I've never understood how to do that.
My sis told her friend I was a good artist, her friend insisted her sister was better, (she's right, her sister is amazing) my sister wasn't convinced.
It's ok, I love long answers, I think mine are too long though. Sorry bout that.

My granny is too lol. I dont USUALLY but a few are interesting. like a deep forest or scifi city is fun from time to time. I think you'd be good at it although im not sure how well it'd work out with the iPad might be too cluttered on the screen Yea it's a small hobby of mine. It's just taking letters and making them in to shapes that express something like Jagged ones that are very unorganized to show anger or round ones in order with colors to show joy. It's kind of fun
I don't beleive theres such a thing as better artists honestly, There's a style everyone has on their own and the thing that makes them stand out or seem better are the ones that have an obvious amount of effort and imagination put into it. In your case thats overflowing ^^
Oh wow... that got... uhm... Deep?
Glad to hear cuz my answers are usually really long xD and i like them too.. dont get nice conversations on DA

i think it runs in moms family, my aunt, Nana and mom all like farm animals. You think I'd be good at it? I was going to draw on the computer, Um because I want a break from drawing on my iPad, it's gotten kinda boring. What if ones handwriting is terrible? Wouldn't that affect the way the graffiti turns out? The only thing I've done that is even remotely close to graffiti is bubble letters, my friend puts handmade posters in her room, and she always wants me to do the bubble letters (has to be bubble letters) because I'm 'good at it'. Yeah right.
I agree, though I think you worded it much better than I would have.
Wow I.. I.. Thanks I didn't think my drawings were very creative, full of effort possibly, but not imaginative. (you made me blush)
Deep's good
No you don't get nice conversations on dA, especially ones that are long, thats one thing i dont like. I just hope this reply wasn't too long.

Likewise. I think so you seem good with animal figures. It's easier on the computer cuz you can have a larger canvas. No not really mines. Ad but my graffiti is decent it's mostly just scratching in abstract shapes and contorting it into letters. Id like to see your "bubble" letters actually.
Glad to hear that someone else has the same idea
I mean it. I love to see stuff that is completely original and wish I did more of it myself.
If you say so lol
Yeah I like getting a nice conversation going and there's not enough of that. There's never too long of a reply

You do? *jaw drop* what makes you say so? Yeah drawing is easier on a computer in that respect, but actually getting the computer and being able to be on it long enough to draw on it is hard. Lots of interruptions.
Oh, well I guess that's good, because my handwritings terrible. You want to see my "bubble" letters?
Yes, I'd explain the way i feel about differing artists, but that'd be confusing probably. Pretty much I feel the same way you do.
Wow, thanks. Ever since I found out I could make up a character and it would belong to me, I've loved drawing them, I love to make up OCs, that's why I don't have a lot of fanart. Why don't you draw original characters much? (I ask a lot of questions....)
People usually say "good pic" and they don't want to talk anymore. it's saddening. Glad there's never too long of a reply, because mine are really... Long...

Likewise but my OCs are well ... Let's say they're in a league of their own (of fail) and I don't think it'd be well received on here. It's okay I like questions
Si
I'd kind of like to hear it I got time..
Yea I have asked a few times the descriptions for my stuff asking how they like it so I can know to continue it or not and how it could be improved and people go "nice pic bro"

That makes me feel... awesome. Really really awesome. The computer was free today, I think, I just was busy with things... Mostly unimportant things. Like... I my gosh I watched tv today. Well Netflix anyway, but I was doing something "productive" while watching, I was drawing.
Thankfully my sister is younger than me, unthankfully she's been attacking me (literaly) for the past 15 minutes.
I have some OCs like that as well, they're not even good enough to actually draw them out, I never have, they only exist in my mind. Glad you like questions
Well I guess I'll have to make a thingy with bubble letters on it, all the ones my friend has have her name on it.
I was afraid you'd say that lol. Um well I think anyone can draw, as long as they apply themselves and practice, some people have the talent naturally, others have to acquire it. I like to "watch" people who are still beginners (doesn't mean you are, trust me) because I prefer watching people get better, rather than seeing their incredible art that takes them 5 seconds to draw. I think it goes kinda in a pattern, if the person continues to draw and doesn't quit. At first an artist finds a love to draw, then the start drawing (most likely) crappy drawings, once they get a good sketch they move on to a line art, then they move on to coloring, and shading, backgrounds, creativity, adding story to the image perspective and so on, then once they good enough, they should do something with their skills, like get a job or something. Of course the artist has to persist, once they get good at sketches and line art (if they use line art) they need to move on to something more advanced, like coloring and shading, otherwise they are stuck and people get uninterested in their art. Woah that was long, you were probably like Oh that's long, i'm never asking that again....
Usually I have .... 3 people who will usually comment meaningful things, well really it depends, I know there is one person who will always read what I say, and almost always type a reply. I think you know who he is. The other two aren't always reliable, but they are nice when they do comment. Most people either don't read it, or don't feel like commenting, I say if you don't feel like commenting, wait until you do, I don't care how long it takes to get a reply, I would rather wait a week to get a good reply then get a reply like "cool" or "I don't want to talk right now".
Typing a lot, and rambling a bit, sorry bout that, will stop now.

I like lazy days tho so its okay.
I don't even really know where to begin to make OC with story and all.... any help? My mom and dad used to call me a computer when i was little. I ALWAYS asked questions its kinda like ADD but of analyzing things can't help it
Can't w8 to see I agree but all the skill and practice in the world is nothing if your just a human photocopier. If you can get things that are innovative in it then it will be much better (I don't mind lol it was just hard to read at first cuz i was on my iPod and i had to scroll lol)
*blush* im smiling like an idiot lol
Likewise its okay if you ramble tho.

Me too, too much I think...
What kind of OC? Or what kind of story? Like any particular species?
I usually figure things out for myself, like if I don't understand a word, I just look it up (or use context) instead of asking. But.... I guess with the Internet there's no body language, facial expressions, you know physical stuff, all there is is people's art, and a person can hide behind that.
Yes, I agree with that, I like original ideas, fanarts ok if there is just a little, but poses, characters and all that should be creative and original. Plus your not an artist if all you do is look at someone's picture and copy everything there. (I hate going on dA with an iPod)
I was afraid to admit I had noticed because I didn't want you to stop, or continue commenting because you knew that I know. Continue smiling, it's good
I don't ramble too much, just slipped into it.

Likewise
Well i got a couple only one on here tho [link]
I actually have this one's story (mostly) finished
the other is a group of humans but haven't gotten into that yet
I suppose you could say i do hide behind it thank god for emoticons so we can use (at least some) expressions
I feel thats a problem i have. Most if not all of my stuff is fanart tho it is original most of the time (i do too but its a nice pass time in school cuz i kinda found out the wifi code ^^)
I'm not bothered by it at all it's acutally kind of nice to get a response from someone.
I'll try
I do if i get interested in something lol

Oh, do you have his story written down?
Humans? Like during modern day?
Yeah I like emoticons, but they won't show the expressions that people don't want you to see, feelings people think they are hiding.
Well if you feel that's a problem, then create characters, dragons, wolves, humans, robot, some made up species... Anything really. I enjoy creating OCs, I find it really fun to do. (haha, I wish I knew the wifi code at my co-op, but we aren't supposed to bring electronics anymore, they told us that monday)
Glad, I was slightly worried

I don't go anywhere without my iPad, (used to bring my iPod, but when I bought my iPad the iPod became hers, we shared it) I could probably go up to the lady in charge and ask for the pass code and she'd give it to me, they all trust me there, most adults do.... It's weird.

It won't.
Umm the teachers at my co-op don't trust the kids either... But pretty much every adult I meet likes me, I'm not bragging (trying not to) I'm saying it's weird.... They wave at me, my history teacher gave me a hug yesterday, they give me responsibilities... I don't know what I do.

Not gonna go very far into it but LOTR was origionally seven books. Fellowship was two parts. Two towers I think was also two. And Return of the King was either three or four parts. Now onto the real aspect of this post. I have never really thought about gel pens. Maybe I should borrow my sister's huge set of 72 and try my luck. XI And what you saw of how Smaug was slightly hard to see with the background. It is the entrance and steps directly behind his head due to the contrast of the pile of valuables beneath him. It has an odd effect of making Smaug seem to almost fuse into the steps somehow. Overall. Quite nice in my sight. Keep up the good work. ^_^

Farbeneath In reply to Asterian-Nitari [2012-04-11 20:27:34 +0000 UTC]
I bet my dad would know about that, and if not... I've got his 4 brothers I could ask right now, one of them has got to know.
You should try gel pens, they are awesome to draw/color with. Though they run out of ink quickly, the ones I have that are a large set of... 50 or something run out of ink quick so I don't use them much, but these gel pens I just got (that I used for this pic) don't run out as quick.
When I get home to my computer I'm going to make the background of this pic faded a little bit. I'll make it not as bright so it's not crowding Smaug. Hopefully it will look better after I can get to photoshop (or something of the sort) and use some effects.
Thanks ^^ I will

LOTR is actually a very old series of books.
And I think I might just try using gel pens on something. If I put up something something in the future anyone that looks will know if I botched or not. XI
And now off to writing long winded posts in several forum RPs. ^_^ Hope to see more of your work soon.

The keyboard is part of the laptop I am using. I have used an iPad before. But it was on loan from school. Not my own. So I am limited to computer and scanned sketches and such. Good thing I have a printer with a decent scanner. We have several unused keyboards that aren't compatable with this computer. And if I could find one I like I may use it.

Do something, I don't know what though, for it to work. I usually just take a picture of my drawing with my iPad, it's not as good of quality, but it's the best way for me to upload it. Hope you find a good keyboard.
