that's Chaos actually... she's sylvester's nutty sister. She's also as soft and squeezable as a rabbit.
Ed doesn't believe in magic, since Alchemy is mostly science and chemistry. However, if you really think about it, Alchemy is more like science and magic mashed together. He also doesn't believe in god as well, so it just goes with the character.
