Description My first entry for 's contest [link]
The first entry is supposed to be a Pokemon in realistic style. I know you might expect Aerodactyl or even Skarmory or somethin' else, but I'm just gonna enter Lapras. See, a while back I had the mood to draw a realistic Lapras, partly inspired by 's Pokemon depictions. I've always thought of good ol' Lapras as a plesiosaur, so I drew it as one. I like how the hissing head turned out, gotta love all those super-sharp teeth

The Lapras (Nessiteras laplace) is a sea-dwelling relic of the ages past. It raises its young in the safety of coastal bays and harbors, and, not knowing man as a predator, allows other Pokemon and people to ride on the back of its shell, which it apparently evolved out of protection against its main predator, Gyarados. Its powerful flippers and tail help propel it in the water at speeds of up to 30 miles an hour. Capable of maintaining a stable body temperature and living off a diet of fish and seaweed, it can adapt to any kind of sea or ocean, including the freezing Arctic north.
Lapras live in groups of 20 or more, 40 if you include juveniles, with about twice as many females as males. Males often compete for these harems, and also help find food for their Apras youngsters, which number at least dozen per herd. They have evolved a highly complex vocal system which allows them to communicate with each other and rival pods, and hunt and defend themselves with a powerful sonic burst. If threatened by Sharpedo or other foes, they will bunch together in a circle like whales, with the Apras infants in the center of the pod, and unleash a fury of sound and teeth that can deter almost any foe.

So before anyone asks, yes, Lapras will have a pre-evo in my region! I'm gonna post it after my contest entries and my new Kroel Gym Leaders. And I'll try and make a realistic Skarmory too for the lulz, if you like ^^

Interesting that you gave it a long tail.. I think it really suits it, which is why my mist dragons (also based on plesiosaur) have one too..

I really don't know why I put that in, but Lapras is based on the Loch Ness Monster after all. It doesn't have to be COMPLETELY Plesiosaurian. I think the closest thing to this depiction and its evo (yes, I'm making a Lapras evo too) would be Cerisisaurus, a pursuit-diver Nothosaur with a long tail and neck as well as flippers. Only Lapras is a LOT bigger, lol

You don't mean 's realistic Politoed, don't you?
Well, he's not that bad, check out his gallery, it's awesome
And yeah, I couldn't resist doing a real-life Lapras. Expect a Lapras pre-evo in the Gaenn Region and Pokemon: Iron/Copper

I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I just have to say that plesiosaurs don't have long tails. When they first assebled the skeleton they accidentaly made the tail long and neck short. But then they changed it.
It's still cool.

Whatever, I wanted the guy to have a propulsion mechanism.
And I'm gonna post the next few entries in a few days. The mythical one is gonna be based off a Lamassu, which I mentioned to you earlier.

It would be strange to see a realistic Skarmory... I don't think it's realistic at all for a bird to be able to fly but be made out of steel...But what do I know? I'm just a generic 16-year-old girl.

Wait . . . You're a girl?
Well, I DO happen to be based off the Stymphalian Birds, after all, so a realistic moi wouldn't be as big a challenge as you'd think
