Description
A mini turnaround of my fan art of Red from Transistor. Didn't go further around her because I knew the camera angle I wanted to for the final shot was from the front, so I didn't model anything in the back.Modeled in Zbrush

Did you check out the link? Sculptris is free, its a mini Zbrush, by the guys who made Zbrush, for people new to 3D.

How did you do those wonderful feathers in zbrush? I always have such a hard time with thin shapes.

I gave a quick breakdown of how I did them over at the finished rendered version of Red, but I made and positioned the feathers in Maya. Zbrush can get weird with super thin or flat things, and subtool management becomes a mess with many small objects.Β

Ahhh alright, that sounds more likely, I was wondering how you coulda pulled that off in zbrush. Thanks man!

Well if I had to do it in Zbrush, I would make a few different feathers with shadowbox and transpose them into place. Same result for the most part, just take a little longer.

This is actually pretty helpful for referencing the proportions and angles of the face. You made the model look very beautiful too! Nice work :3

Thanks. If people can reference and learn something from my work that's awesome. Just be careful not to copy my mistakes.

That's good to hear but what mistakes exactly?

I was just jokingly saying that I am still practicing and improving myself so my work isn't perfect. For modeling, or any art really, it is always best to go off of real life reference first. =3

... I knew that XD
That's true. Real life references are better to go by but if course it doesn't hurt to use artwork to learn as well

Thanks Chris, that means a lot coming from you.
Been following you work from polycount, cool to see you have a profile on here. It is funny, no lie, your Dizzy's face was one of the reference images I was using while making this. I have trouble making characters with larger eyes and more stylized features. Hopefully with Red this was a step in the right direction.
