I saw a stamp that says "Homestuck is better than Hetalia". So, I decided to say "Hetalia is better than Homestuck".But honestly, I tried to read Homestuck. It didn't go down too well. My eyes began scrunching up painfully. Part of it was because I didn't like the art. But just from the beginning, I really couldn't get into it. It just didn't appeal to me, to be honest. Not my cup of tea, you could say. From the beginning that I read, I didn't see a plot, although if I had continued, there probably would have been one.
I just couldn't handle it. I don't like it. At all. I honestly don't care if other people like it, though. It's fine if you're a fan.
I love Hetalia. It had a more interesting beginning, imo, with the funny world conference and stuff. I thought it was amusing, and it seemed to start out with a plot, although that kind of dwindled away in the later episodes. (I'm talking about the anime, not the manga). It just appealed to me more.
So therefore, in my opinion, Hetalia > Homestuck.
Hetalia has a shit fandom though.
However, from speaking with many Homestuck fans, they said that Homestuck also has a shitty fandom.
Some people say "But you can't compare the two". Maybe they're right.

(( okay i agree the fandom can be a bit intense at times but Homestuck is really awesome, one of my favourite characters Rufioh (based off an actual peter Pan character sdfkjs) was at one point a quadriplegic with a horse body his boyfriend made him and his boyfriend is a freaking mechanical genius with a thing for horses who wears freaking panties when he god tiers and the person who made him a quadriplegic was his crazy ex girlfriend who speaks Japanese and killed the most powerful princess in a fight and said princess is gathering up an army to fight an invincible green cherub skull demon i mean arghh and theyre all so cute i cant even anymorerrr))

I'm not a fan of either of them but I will agree Hetalia has better story, characters, and a start than Homestuck. 
Though I'm not a big Hetalia fan, at last not anymore. You can blame the fans for that.

I agree, but why can't the two fandoms get along!? Most of my friends love homestuck, it's just I found it kinda.... boring? not interesting? Is that the right word? I spent 2 days straight reading homestuck, trying to get to an interesting point, (only got to act 5) but to no avail.

Both Homestuck and Hetalia are very clever. To be honest, I actually saw your stamp on tumblr. It wasn't the work of an art thief, but they took this stamp and the "Homestuck over Hetalia" stamp and paired it with an audio clip playing "why can't we be friends".

I also think Andrew Hussie sorta did what Himaruya did.
Hussie took something simple (zodiacs) and 'personified' them as trolls.
And I just think Hussie was being rather unoriginal doing that.

Also not to mention that Homestuck has no humor what so ever. I've read half of it and I just couldn't grasp the concept of it. Not to mention how are buckets funny? I mean just cause Karkat(or whoever I can't remember) got his head stuck in a bucket. I see no humor in that at all. I usually see the insane fans flip tables because buckets are so hilarious.
But Hetalia does have a slap stick comedy in it and just gets my attention more.

True, Fruits Basket has personified zodiacs. CHINESE zodiacs, like the dragon, rabbit, etc.
HOMESTUCK on the other hand is based on the ASTROLOGICAL zodiacs, like leo, libra, etc.
there is a distinct difference.
you can be, and are, both
example:
my chinese zodiac is the Ox. and my astrological zodia is Libra.
another difference:
Chinese zodiacs came from, well, China.
where as Astrological zodiacs basically originated from Greece.
