Description Juanita the Ice Maiden, found in Peru in 1995 was an Inca child sacrifice.

She was sacrificed to Apo, the mountain god who leads the way to the sun god Inti, for which there is great respect and most sacrifices where made in Inti's name.

Wrapped in a red and white striped alpaca robe, (turned yellow and red from age), Juanita was taken down from mountain after 500 years.

Here, she is seen with a golden inca statue, which were often left with food and textiles as offerings. She has the rays of Inti exiting her head where the fatal blow occured while she prayed.

She was 12-14 years old at her time of death.

No, I havn't. I want to. I would love to see the Nazca Lines. The closest I've been is just to Mexico.

This one is incredibly beautiful too! I'm loving the highlights of white paint and the texture effect with the girl's skin.

Beautiful artwork. One thing I love about your work is when you draw it and color it, the design of the piece looks like the tradition of Peru and Asian art. It's really beautiful and I think you captured the piece very well.

This is a really interesting series - after looking at this one (the thumbnail stuck out to me!), I'm going to take a look at the rest too.

This is beautiful.
I love the figure in the background (I presume it's the mountain god?) and the story is haunting...

It's just a statue, no real god depiction.

I need to repaint this one still. Sooo behind. lol

thank you

The colors are perfectly chosen - it is most fascinating to read about these things, and see your gorgeous interpretations. o.o
