Description
This is fan art that's been a long time coming...Inspired by Robin Hobb's "Fool's Fate" in the Tawny man Trilogy, this scene does actually happen in the book.....but unfortunately doesn't lead where we all would have liked it to.
On the left is the Fool/Beloved/Lord Golden/Amber, and on the right is Fitz, arguably both the most, and least, likeable character in fantasy literature.

I first saw this picture before I read the books (Farseer, not got the next ones yet) and it was haunting me all the while! Then I couldn't find it and I thought I was going crazy!

I think they're really good (so far, from what I've read) I've got to get the next three =3 I've only got the Farseer Trilogy and the first of the Dragon Keepers TT^TT I miss reading them and I only finished a few days ago

Truer words have never been spoken.
This deserves a long, boring, ranty comment, but I'm just too tired at them moment.
I will mention a few details however.
Such as:
THE FOOL'S HAIR! It's so amazing. I could spent hours sitting looking at it.
SALT! She looks so... perfect. Thats the only word for it. I always have trouble picturing her, but I won't anymore. I 'specially like the bare foot. I don't know why, its just so, I dunno, right.
AXE! The fact that Fitz fights with an axe has always been a source of great joy for me, I don't know why. I just haven't read many books where battle axes are used - other than by dwarfs. >.< You make it look like such a graceful weapon, yet it still looks just like a real axe. Thats a great feat - I've seen a few of the things, and they tend to be quite clunky and awkward looking.
Only one thing bothers me - Fitz is holding the Fool so awkwardly. Under ordinary circumstances, it'd be perfect, but it I remember correctly the Fool had just come close to swooning and Fitz has caught him to support him. That grip he has doesn't look all that strong.
But thats just nit-picking. xP

This is gorgeous. I mean, ok first, the scene you picked makes me want to start sobbing again. And you are so right about this scene not leading where we wanted it to.
Also, Fitz being the most and least liked character in fantasy? LOL!! So true. I love him even if he is so incredibly stupid. I want to hug him and then beat him.
On the artwork side, the attention to detail, line and form is SO amazing. I love the hair the most, especially on the Fool. Fitz's hair looks amazing too, and I love the detailing on their clothes and the scales of the dragon. Salt looks amazing, her face is so perfect. I actually imagined this scene a lot more aggressive, but yours is so tender and warm.

A lovely drawing of a lovely scene in the book. And as for Fitz as "arguably both the most, and least, likeable character in fantasy literature"....I definitely agree with you there. Half the time I wanted to strangle him, and the other half, I couldn't put the books down on account of him.
