Description
See newer refsheets here: www.deviantart.com/felisglaciaβ¦
Finally I have made new reference sheet of my original feline species; the siderian. As you can see on the phylogenetic tree, there are three other species in the Metafelis genus. I will make a similar reference sheet of these species too - if I have the time. The siderian is my main species and I have by far most siderian characters, but lately the javines begin to become clearer and clearer. Here is the reference sheet of the javine species:
Siderians; as I call them sideries or just deries; are mostly inspired by Oriental cats and tigers, and to some extend by Eurasian lynx (especially the large paws). Just explore my gallery to find more characters and see how they all have some individual characteristics. You are free to make up your own siderian character with the help of this reference sheet; but just make sure you always refer to me as 'creator' and NEVER use a siderian character for commercial purposes!
If you have any questions about possible variations or for example coat colours (those are complex and there are more exceptions possible than shown here)- feel free to ask me! I will try to answer
-btw...there may be a LOT of typos...
art and species to me!, please don't copy/use it without my permission!

This is incredible! I've always loved these guys, and this reference sheet only enhances that. The artwork is gorgeous and it is clear much thought and planning went into this.
Now I want a pet Siderian..

Thanks! That's nice to hear! Hehe petting is not possible - the relation between humans and siderians is not so good...if you are lucky you can befriend one; but they are too intelligent and self-willed to be a pet.

Well the term 'pet' for me is the same level as friend and family or 'pack' member. Ahahaha.
Either way, I still love the species!

Wow! This is the beauty of someone who created an original species and worked with them for years. This is the result! I absolutely love informational sheets like these. The drawings and colors are beautiful! Siderians are stunning creatures!

Thanks! yeah I think I have been developing this species seriously for 14 years now. They have evolved a LOT - from wolflike to a tigerlike feline. Anyway more reference sheets of other metafelies will come too

Absolutely LOVE the Black and Irish White marking one! Just like a Border Collie. My favorite breed of dog~

haha yeah; although this is a pretty common pattern among mainly domestic animals (but it has been seen in a wild lynx once messybeast.com/genetics/mutant⦠) . But anyway it reminds me to my fav. dogbreed as well - I have a soft spot for Borders too... I have actually one siderian character (Niver) who is blue-merle with this piebald spotted pattern - he looks a bit like a Border Collie XD

Ah cool. I would love to see a wild lynx with that pattern.
Hehe, I personally am a huge fan or the Sable and Irish White BCs. Otherwise I have many others. XD Like solid blue GSDs for example.
Oh, hehe. I will have to scout around for him. XD

Nice, this is a very useful reference sheet for character design! The general bodybuild, differences between sexes, area of birth/storyline, possible fur colours - these are all details that make detailed character design a bit more complicated!
The summary of possible colours is a very understandable chart!

Thankies! We can print it next week Ha yeah I guess especially the variation in the faces makes it difficult and now we can play around with facial tabby markings, makes it even more challenging- or easier. Good to hear that the chart is understandable
I"m curious how a similar chart for javs, arcties and canovs looks. They may have the same 'effects' but tabby markings are much brighter and warmer in javines, while silver is standard in arctians.

Thanks! Yeah these are the most common colour-variants. There are some exceptions as well, but then I need much more space

THanks! It's a bit of work, but it pays off ) I want to make a similar chart of the other metafeline species as well. I'm now working on the javine
