thanks. but one leg is in front of the other, so one should be looking bigger.

The details are beautiful. Is her dress flat intentionally?

kind of, she is sort of centrally lit, so there is not a lot of shadow on her dress, and i focused more on the designs and patterns throughout. plus the bodice that i was working from really does squash the chest and stomach to a flattish look. i recognize that there could be more shading done, but i prefer the flattness and detail over strict realism.

i do live in Binghamton! you must have been to the Junglescience show! that was her debut. and she was purchased in the first hour. crazy stuff. nobody really recognized me as the artist, which was funny. a number of people asked me where the artist was and if they could meet "him".... they must've been looking for a man because my pen name is "felix"... even though it said "ROBIN FELIX EDDY" all on the cards and the wall...ah well. that's what i get for being shy, i suppose! lol...

Oh, I didn't think you'd be a boy, but that's probably cause I was looking at the self portrait thingy and thinking it kind of looked like some of the self portraits I've done (my hair used to be long too X3) In any case, that show was WICKED good. Why isn't that one picture in your gallery? I don't remember the title, but its like... A chick with a really nice butt with tree limbs for wings? I'm not sure if all the stuff in that show was yours, so don't get mad if it wasn't your piece *doesn't want to have stuff chucked at her*

weird, shes seems to be standing on a rose bush with bee wallpaper in a room but then like AvengingKobold says: "shes seems to be trapped in a rose bush and the bees are keeping her prisoner"
Its skind of a two way point of view from shes free standing on a rose bush like a bee getting the nectar yet shes trapped in a rose bush with the bees keeping her prisoner...weird
This one is definitely a fav!

yeah, i was playing with the concept of sexuality, identity, imprisonment, and empowerment, and sort of how they can all be smushed together adn still distinct. i love reading what other people see in this painting!

It's a rather striking image, it's like she's trapped by the rose-bush though she doesn't know better and the bees are guarding her prison.

I kind of like the idea that she is the "queen" and yet trapped by the position and a prisoner to her subjects. i was thinking a lot about sexual identity and sexuality and how you can wrap yourself in a sexual identity and think you are in control while it is really becoming a prison of sorts, labelling you and determining how you are viewed. i think she is a niaeve virgin pretending that she is an empowered and sexy woman, trapped by the pretend reality she imagines, viewed as a slut, a dominatrix, or just a sexual icon. she is trapped by the idea of being desirable and all the negative and positive things that involves. that's just me, it's where i started painting from... i like that people interpret their own meanings of these paintings!

this painting was in progress for a long time, but i didn't work on it all the time, it sat half-finished for more than a year. i used oil paint.
